the Satellite Antenna Gain List for C/Kuband!sorted,by manufaktur!

The SatClub post was made on 05/2006. I made this thread back in 04/2004. :) http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/dish-setup-single-sat-multi-sat-motorised-systems/10934-large-dishes-europe.html#post43605 And I based that on a post in 03/2004 by Bradle01 :-rofl2...

Astra 2D in Sicily?..not yet.... :( but Im not giving up!!!

Half question/comment: from reading back through the posts, I understand that you are using an ADL Ku-band feed with a WR75 flange connected directly to a C120 LNB. Should there not be a quarterwave transformer between the feed and the LNB?

    Dish Setup

Sure all the pensioners around Trá Lí are fierce agile :) I don't know why it's not moving to the new sats - there should be a setting for the sat/antenna position when adding it initially and the motor should 'read' that. Failing that you could get yourself a 9-pin null modem cable and do all...

    Dish Setup

You seem to be having difficulty understanding what true south means. If your longtitude is 9.7W it follows that when you are looking directly southwards, you will be looking towards the satellite located at 9.7W on the Clarke Belt. But there is no satellite located at that exact position -...

    Polarizer

I guess max would be about €150, so something like Seavey stuff is probably out unless it was secondhand on Ebay. I already have spare WR75 LNBs.

    Polarizer

I'm currently using a corotor on a Channel Master 2.4M dish. C-band works well, but I often wonder how much better Ku-band reception would be with a separate feedhorn setup. So the $64,000 question - which route should I go down : a Chaparral mechanical polariser and feedhorn like this...

    Twin LNB or splitter ?

Option B only allows you to share 1/4 of the frequency range at any one time - either horizontal or vertical polarity and either high or low band - because this switching occurs at the LNB. In other words you won't be able to watch a channel with vertical polarity on one receiver and a channel...

Astra 2D in Sicily?..not yet.... :( but Im not giving up!!!

I don't know how much of a difference it would make, but the ADL Ku 855 is only rated for 10.95 - 11.7 GHz. Perhaps it's attenuating the signals below 10.95GHz where the BBC channels reside? The ADL Ku 850 is designed for 11.7 - 12.5 GHz, so that's definitely not applicable for what you want...

    Broadlogic 2030 (Sat Express pci)

With the Broadlogic drivers you need a signal level of 75%+ before you'll see a picture. Magnetic compass bearings are OK as a general guide as to where to point the dish, but that's all. You need to align the dish: Go into ProgDVB->Channel List->Scan Transponder and enter 10773000...

    Broadlogic 2030 (Sat Express pci)

The signal strength of 65% doesn't count for much with the Broadlogic cards. Even if the dish is pointing at the moon, they'll still show a signal strength of 65%!! Before running ProgDVB, make sure you kill off the Broadlogic software (satellite express control program) beforehand. Better...

    (urgent)Is 14m cable too long?

14M is fine. Just use good quality CT100 cable i.e. cable with a copper braid and a copper shield. The stuff with the silver/aluminium shield is rubbish.

ProgDVB compared with Mytheatre / DVBViewer

The signal strength meter for the SS2 cards varies with the drivers you use for it. Typically you'll see 50-70% signals for normal channels if you use the 4.2.2 drivers (mostly found in the original Rev 2.3 cards), the 4.2.10 and 4.2.11 drivers (see www.technisat.de). There was some sort of bug...

    Broadlogic 2030 (Sat Express pci)

http://www.vbox.to/drivers01.htm You should install the drivers before installing ProgDVB. In fact, it can be a bit of a pain to get the drivers installed properly. If you're running Win98, you may find that you'll have to install the drivers twice to get the board to work - there may even...
