    Problem with offset angle

johnsatuk, Thanks for the reply. I entirely agree with you. I am from south India, 74.51E, 12.45N. There is a part of my question which I might have put wrongly/misleadingly. What I mean is: suppose I give you a 90cm offset dish. Is there anyway you can get to know the offset angle? Thanks again.

    Problem with offset angle

johnsattuk, Thanks. I think I am beginning to understand: the point is not to get confused between the "apparent" angle (the angle the dish may appear to be looking at) and the "actual" angle. By the way, do we have any method whereby we can measure the offset angle of a dish -- the...

    Problem with offset angle

Thanks for the reply Stu. Rolf, I dont care where and how my dish is facing if only I can receive signals from Telstar-18. From where I live, the Elevation firgure for this satellite is 21 degrees. Now, assuming that the offset angle of my dish is 24 degrees, my dish would have to be looking...

    Problem with offset angle

Hi, Most Ku Band dishes have an offset angle ranging between 20-24 degrees -- which means that even when the dish is vertical with reference to ground (90 degrees to ground), the LNB would be receiving at aroung 20-24 degrees. What do we do if we want to point this setup towards a satellite at...

    NEed some advice

Bokya, Sorry for replying so late. I was away. There is really some confusion about LMI-1 Ku band footprint. The earlier map does indeed cover India. But the later ones (check SatcoDx) do not. In any case I do not receive Ku band from this Sat (in Bangalore). Anyway, I shall try again...

    NEed some advice

Bokya, Thanks for your reply. But really, I am intrigued. Neither Satcodx nor Lyngsat show LMI-1 with Ku band footprint anywhere over India (excepting, of course, extrem northern fringe of Kashmir). Are you sure you can catch LMI-1 with 120 cm dish? I look forward to your adivce.

    NEed some advice

Bokya, Analoguesat, LMI-1 northern beam does not bless me with ample footprint area (I live in south India). How is it then that you (Bokya) get hot channels from this sat?

    What are "Feeds?"

    Thanks for the clarification.

    What are "Feeds?"

In Lyngsat and satcoDX listings I often come across the word "feeds?" Feeds of what? Are they video feeds? If so, why dont they have a regular channel name (such as BBC etc.) Sorry, I do not know to which forum this post should go. Please display. Many thanks.
