    The Irish Wizard

http://www.sat-2000.com/ is an Irish company. Also Electroplus in Beaumont Dublin provide some stuff but are really concentrated on Sky.

    How useful is SKY+

Since then I found out that adding 0044 as a prefix doesn't work for 0800 numbers, you have to drop the zero (which is hard to do). This proved to me that the activation of the card and the sky+ record facility did not need callback. However when I got a 2nd card for the old receiver it did...

    How useful is SKY+

New one. Phone line was connected, and maybe it phoned out - I did put in international and UK (44) prefix. Doodler

    How useful is SKY+

Well I just got a sky+ box a couple of weeks ago and the whole activation of the card and the record facility as far as I can make out was done over the satellite to the card (unless 0800 numbers are accessible from overseas). BTW I really like the way it works, it's way more intuitive than my...

    Irdeto Allcam or Irdeto Freecam?

Actually, good point by ROLFW; it is uncertain whether freecam will work with new encryption methods but most people seem to be betting that the cam itself should be ok, as these new encryptions are being implemented by official providers by card exchange only. As for using unofficial cards...

    Irdeto Allcam or Irdeto Freecam?

You ideally want a cam with Freecam version 2.108 loaded, or else one which can be upgraded to this software. To do the upgrade you will need a laptop and download the SW. Most Irdeto Allcams are upgradable, but not all and you can damage your cam if you try to flash (upgrade) the wrong one...

    Gold card

I just saw a file on one of the upload sites "Sky Digital through an irdeto cam". This is almost definitely another fake; as this is the Mount Everest for hackers, the ultimate challenge, not surprising that so many claim to have been there and back (no offence now). Doodler

my Equipment not big enough ( wife says so )

I don't agree with Channel Hopper on that one, 30W (I think) has lots of nagra channels incl sports and movies, and a well-aligned 1.2m should pick it up (despite what the beam footprint looks like). Doodler

my Equipment not big enough ( wife says so )

Depends where you live, but 1.2m should be fine for most of UK. Could be your LNB or dish alignment. Doodler

HELP ME! Motor on 1.2 meter dish?

Assuming your motor is normally driven by a 36-volt positioner, another alternative is to use a positioner that accepts diseqc commands but controls 36v motors. I have one called Aston DS100 which works fine, it's about £100, and there is another one out there (name I forget). There was an...

The REAL FreeCAM2 v0.18 is out

Now I can see all Via with exception of TPS using SatKoos DS9v504 030202 - thanks to him (her?). Mille3 check your private mail for link. I note that there are now funcard hexfiles posted which are specifically tested with fc2018, haven't tested any of them. Looks like there's a real...

There are lots of possibilities and what you do depends on what your requirements and budget are. If you mention what you would like to get in addition to Sky, you will get the best advice. The REAL FreeCAM2 v0.18 is out

Hi, I've just been playing with the 2018 on my 9800s, and I've seen Nagra, Seca, Irdeto, Beta, and some Via channels clear (only Sirius ones); also includes Taq which I believe was a problem with 2017. Doodler

Advice on equipment - F1 PPV from UK?

Nokia boxes seem to be well thought of - I have a 9800s which works well with the seca 1.05 cam and will suit your needs. There are a few niggly problems with it though: * it's slow to respond to remote control * not great at interpreting the epg/timing information from all networks (I don't...
