Doesn't come up much this one, but we have the opportunity to lay some cable/s underground before a new patio is laid.. (satellite/ 36v etc..) any issues, tips etc.. ... we can lay it in metal pipe or plastic, wrapped (or nothing) ... deep or shallow... and keep them separate (sat/ 36v) ...

Some diseqc switches definitely nick' a % of quality not just 3dB of power.. depends how well they're made like anything else. What make have you used Robbo?

I don’t think it’s simple but there must be a noise/ signal loss factor due to ionization, it doesn't take much at the low levels of 2d or 7w on the fringe. Microwave can cause ionization too- that energy has to come from somewhere and the times match quite well. It can’t reflect too well...

Alicante.... City noise ? and an airport ...? we've seen that before here for 7w.. it's not a daily cycle (some is though) but can add noise to worsen the cycle signal loss effect.

sorry I forgot about the diseqc switch.. I say avoid it for 2d unless you have a very good signal. not sure about material for dishes as regards signal reflection ... the thickness or construction of a dish is important... too thin (steel or ali) without strengthening = not good - fiberglass /...

hi Oskare100, check out some other threads regarding 2d for lnb & other fringe issues for 2d check out invacom quad lnb for 2d fringe reception which does have a good reputation on 2d (but on bigger dishes... 1.8 2.4 etc... ) and also a new one from hama, a bit too new at the moment but worth...

I don't think huevos went for 3, it's not a regular daily cycle but it certainly is another variable that varies the signal not only at the footprint's fringe (good point AS) but also the position on the satellite cluster and where you have focused to.

What I was thinking was at the satellite getting a low angle from the sun... not the Earth's sunset horizon shadow. That low angle from the sun would persist at the GSO.... ....and adding that to the ionized layer factor... could the solar noise not 'skip' at that low angle towards the...
