I spoke to one of the girls in the FTV Centre again this evening. She told me that existing FTV cards would not receive ITV Ch 4 and Five after a few weeks and that a subscription would be necessary like RTE in Ireland.
But RTE pay no carriage fee to to Sky and I believe that ITV/CH4/Five do-so...
I did point that out to her !! I think you are right they don't know what is happening but ITV Ch4/Five will either have to go FTA or take on the issuing and activation of FTV cards.
What he could do is ring up Sky and cancel his UK sub. Then ring up Free to View 08705 438000 and request a FTV card. When this comes he rings them and they will activate the FTV card which will give him BBC/ITV/Ch 4 Five News 24 etc. They will ask for the box details as found in the System...
