Thats what I am hoping...a few weeks of bonus Sky sports/movies for the spare room or bedroom over the xmas period. Would sky know the old card was still being used, and what would they be able to do about it?
Hi all,
I have a sky full package sub, and was thinking of getting a HD box 2nd hand and installing it myself. If I phone sky and get the box paired with a spare card I have, do they turn off the old card immediately or can I still use it. I was hoping to be able to put the old box, fully...
Thats a shame! I dont have a S*y HD box...
I do, however, have a Pace 810XE HD Box, but i dont have a cam for it. Any suggestions on a cam that will take a S*y viewing card? ( One that will also take "smart" cards would be nice!!!)
Peter
Thanks for all the info on this. I wont bother giving it any more thought! Using this gadget is a no-no! (saves me checking out the movies listings as well!)
Peter
I've been giving this a little more thought...
This gadget will allow the watching of ppv until a set limit on the viewing card is reached...then what happens? Is there any way that $ky knows what is going on? The reason I ask is because I have several FTA cards lying around (they all work and...
Thanks guys, sorry for re-introducing an old chestnut!!
I hadnt seen it before (the device or the posts). It just seems like a very professionally done e-mail, with pictures, and even with a money back guarantee.
I feel sorry for anyone who falls for it.
Many thanks
Peter
Hi everyone.
I've just had an anoymous e-mail from someone selling a device that enables you to watch ppv channels without having to pay for them.
It looks like it connects to your modem in the skybox. Anybody know anything about these devices and whether 1. They are legal 2. they work. 3. Is it...
I've got the same problem. I have been given a TU-DSB31, brand new, still in its box, but it wont accept a forced download. System info says "no card", sky helpline says the software version is too old to be able to take an update???
Any one have any ideas or info?
Cheers
Peter
Hey BarMoo,
Cheers for the input...
I run my projector from my laptop using the VGA port, so that side of it is not a problem...what is a BIG problem is getting a card that is USB2 and will cope with HD....
Good idea about the tutorial, Pinkerton...
I think Remlap would be the person to talk to, he's got it up and running using DVBViewer and coreAVC codecs...(see the BBC HD thread in the HD forums)
@jagost02
I think astra hd is MPEG2, whereas BBC hd is MPEG4
Cheers
Peter
Thanks for the input prophessor, but i do believe that a moderate specified pc will run MPEG4... S2 is something completely different it seems...
I am sure my laptop will cope with MPEG4, I just need to find a USB2 card that will do the trick...
Hi, John,
to be honest, I'm not sure myself!
From reading other threads on this forum, it would appear that the latest HD transmissions from Sky are in a form called "S2", and can only be received with equipment designed for it. The BBC, apparently, are not using the S2 format for their initial...
Cheers for that, Horatio.
That particular card is for S2 encoded HD. Have you seen the specs required? !!! Not sure if my laptop would be good enough (P4. 3.00ghz, 512 ram, and ATI mobility radeon 9700 graphics card). Also, it appears to be in huge demand and dificult to get hold of.
I have...
