    DVD/HDD recorder recommendations?

I haven't visited this site in a while. Some time ago, my Diseqc motor packed up mid-travel and I've been too busy to get up on the roof and try to point the dish at anything. Anyway, I've had a Lidl 160GB HDD DVD recorder for a few years now, the rebadged LiteOn one. It's fantastically simple...

Sky Dish on pole above roof apex

See here for a picture of my 80cm dish on a 7 foot scaffold pole attached to my back chimney. http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/picture-members-setups-general-satellite-installations/66298-my-dish.html It was fine until a particularly bad storm. The dish acted like a sail and the pole...

    wierd problem recording freeview

It doesn't record even with the TVonics freeview box connected directly to the recorder via SCART. As far as I can tell the signal produced by the TVonics box is out of spec, even though the picture looks fine. The recorder thinks this out of spec signal is Macrovision copy protection and...

    wierd problem recording freeview

Yeah. That's what's puzzling me. As far as the recorder is concerned, nothing has changed. It's just trying to record the same UHF channel as before. The only thing that has changed is the new freeview box that's feeding the UHF modulator.

    wierd problem recording freeview

My setup includes a freeview box outputting via scart to a UHF modulator. Then the UHF is fed into an analogue HDD/DVD recorder. It's worked fine like that for several years. It's a lidl recorder (Liteon badged as Targa). Anyway, a week ago my Tevion freeview box died. They rarely seem to last...

    Lost audio on 19E Travel

In the last few days I've lost english audio on 19E Travel Channel. Is it just me, or is it gone for everyone? I'm a big fan of this channel, I think it's probably the best FTA channel.

Recommend me a good & cheap freeview box?

I'm still looking to buy a Sagem box. My Mico box has taken a turn for the worse now, in addition to it's previous faults, it now reports poor signal and the picture breaks up but I know the aerial is OK. I opened it up and had a look inside: It uses a Phillips chipset. I noticed that several...

Recommend me a good & cheap freeview box?

Thanks Rolfw, I'll check out the sagem boxes. I can't return this Mico box as I've had it for quite a while. I remember reading bad reviews when I first bought it, but I thought people were just expecting too much from a 24 quid box.

Recommend me a good & cheap freeview box?

I've got a Mico freeview box from Asda, and it's a worthless pile of junk. Every time I press a key on the remote it takes at least 5 seconds to respond, up to several minutes on occasion. It freezes up at least once a day . It freezes up every time I try to use Text. Sometimes the picture...

    New Motorised Set Up

It's not too bad once you get your head around it. Check the motor setup tutorials. After you've been up the ladder tweaking it every night for two weeks in the dark and freezing cold, it will all suddenly make sense. :D

    Maplin satellite suitcase help

I don't know for sure. 28E is probably the strongest signal in the UK. I get 99% on my Comag with an 80cm dish. It's quite normal for the signal quality to fluctuate a few percent. If it fluctuates a lot on certain transponders, that could be due to interference from radio emitting devices such...

Why would a floppy A drive say all my disks are write-protected?

The 8 inch and 5.25 inch floppies had a notch cut out of the side and the drives had an optical switch. You covered the notch with a sticky label to write protect. This is the OPPOSITE to the 3.5 inch standard. ie. Closed = Write Protect. Cassettes and VHS tapes use Closed = Write Enabled. It...
