4K TVs - your recomendations ?

If you grease one side of the new TV , then apply the right pressure (in the right places) you could obtain the nirvana of the curved TV within the space available. It has to be convex though (to the viewer side) so get some clean plimsolls on otherwise you will be cleaning the screen when you could be watching 4k definition.

Buzzwords that are critical ..are
apparently... HDCP2.2 - High DNR- Quantum display ...Localized dimming
which hopefully applies to the 55UH 850V

..and apparently 55 inches is the - minimum - size required for an average room to see any real benefit UHD v 1080P

I've watched quite a few Utube vids on the subject now ..and I'm bogeyed
.. & why do reviewers talk so damned fast ???

Oled is the way to go IF you have a big enuff piggy bank (which I don't)
Time to chill out in the bath.

Says ..not abvailable on-line tho' ..and presumably they dont deliver for free ??

So ...took the plunge on the 55UH850V from currys..
with the 5 year guarantee ..
It hurts parting with nearly a grand ..but the pain will eventually pass.
A few weeks earlier than I planned ..but soddit ..I'm impatient.
They had the option to pay with Paypal with free delivery ...and although it means other bills will have to be delayed...I wanted it installed before I got my new specs ..
..which should be ready for collection early feb ..
I'll report back when I've seen it in action.

Tonight I'll try and download the Sony 4k demo which I think is available somewhere on the net.

No idea how long this is ..
but am currently downloading this :-

I'm guessing it is a fairly short demo ..on account it is only about 5.6gb

Just tested one in full screen mode ...though obviously my PC monitor is not 4k ..
But ran smoothly enough so looks like my speed is ok..
..but is it truely UHD or downscaled ?
?
The LG of course has a built in sat tuner ..so I guess I'll be looking for 4k real time broadcast content.
This assumes the tuner/front end is equipped to handle it ..which surely it must be ?
Suggestion are welcome on where to look..

..as I suspected ..
4k ..on the Sony demo claims 2160p max ...and although it plays ..is constantly buffering.
So pehaps not a realistic test ..
I'll try again with the proper gear when it arrives..
..and hopefully the file I'm downloading will test the TV's limits correctly ..and unbuffered.

These include Cityscape
Landscape
& Iceland
All run smoothly on my pc played with VLC ..and as expected are overscanned on my PC screen..
..and WoW ..are they impressive.

VS get a few of these clips from here: Demo UHD-3D - Ultra-HD / 4K / HDR / 3D especially the HDR ones and play directly from either a USB stick or HDD plugged into the TV, I would be wary about 99% of the so called UHD clips on Youtube most are just upscaled and any with so called HDR dont work as the Youtube app on either your external source or TV has to have been updated to include the HDR part

As i said you will be hard pressed to find much material in HDR and all the LG TV's built in Youtube apps do not support HDR yet apart from the OLED 65G6V, if your 3rd party external source supports the updated Youtube app fair enough.

Also worth noting to turn on the advanced bitrate options in the app which shows onscreen all necessary Video and audio data just to make sure that the Clip is actually UHD. the link i supplied are all official demos
