The problem isn't the phone line itself which seems to be in fairly good nick, it's whatever is pumping the interference into it. It's not either of my next door neighbours as I've checked that out, I suspect someone nearby is using a dodgy satellite receiver with "gift" that fails noise suppression so badly that it is pumping huge amounts of crap back down through their telephone socket.:mad:. When the interference is on, the SNR margin drops by 8-9db.

That, my dear fellow, is a bit of a bu**er.

A lot of a bu**er, in fact.

Nope. You can't get away with making it look good by using smaller units! :-doh

Good news from my backup ISP ( ice norge ) received today:eek:

Først i Norge med Data Rollover! - ice.net

Rollover Data

Original vrersion :-

«Rull over» ubrukt data til neste måned

Translation version :-

Why pay for data you do not use? We think that is wrong! Therefore we are launching Data Rollover for all our private mobile and mobile broadband customers, from March. Data Rollover means unused data included automatically in the next month, so you do not lose what you've already paid for.
"Roll over" unused data to the next month

Applies to all private mobile subscriptions and mobile broadband subscriptions from March 2017
No expiration date
No additional costs

Functionality is added to all subscriptions, fully automatically during March, for the same low price as before. You do, in other words not lift a finger!
What does this mean for you?

With Data Rollover you can "roll" with your unused data on from one month to another. Whether you have data again from your normal amount of data, or have purchased additional data package!

Simply put: If you have data again at the end of month its rolled over to the next month.

Really good news and about time too:D

Time to think different on broadband? Connections over EE 4G using a Huwaei E5180As-22 supplied by EE (left) and iPhone 6plus over Three (right). Speeds in this rural area of the Weald of Kent are much faster than in London. It's a now a realistic alternative for those struggling with slow broadband. (As I was) My EE package has 50 GB/month. There's a 100GB but it's serious money...

I'm visiting friends in Morocco at the moment, 3G/4G where available isn't that bad and the download speed on ADSL2 isn't that bad but the upload is horrid:

Someone would do well in introducing them to cable broadband

What's the # like?
It's unsurprisingly more satisfying than the broadband speeds ;o)

I'm currently sampling Casa Grande Surf Hostel on Tenerife and for a small island in the North Atlantic the Broadband speeds are not that far off the mainland

Oddly it says Madrid is under 50 Miles from Tenerife, somehow I think not

Out of contract now, and the price has been hiked, so I am now moving the connection to Bangladesh telecom.

Well aware of the legendary billing computer, hopefully it won't be a problem as I don't have a land line plugged in. Doubt I could find a handset around here.

I must admit I am not a fan of them either.

But if of all of the isp's I have had at this address bt was the best service.
