Can you recognize the dish? I do! Right, it is Fibo 55. Unbelievable, what crazy things people can do with such a great piece of equipment!

I do not think so, it is about 1/7 of the dish is cut off, so they were getting ~14% less channels :-rofl2

A few dishes spotted whilst travelling through Judea and Sameria in Israel from the Stalactite Caves near Jerusalem, probably the HOT TV uplink
View attachment 97739
The thing that catches my eye is the elevation (or inclination, if you must) of the dishes.
Being that far south, one should expect them to be pointing a but more, erh, upwards?
What sats are usually used for Israeli tv?

as far as I am aware they receive and rebroadcast channels from all over the world to accommodate the eclectic diversity of nationalities that live in Israel covering the many languages, countries of origin and religions. Russian tv is very popular in Israel owing to the 1M Russian immigrants in the 80s and 90s. Equally Moroccan, Tunisian Iranian,Yemen Egyptian (generally dialects of Arabic or Farsi) English French South American, Indian,.. the list goes on. As you point out the larger dishes have a low inclination which to me suggests they are receiving channels rather than uplinking. The Amos range of sats are manufactured and used by Israel, though, I am sure @HB13DISH16 is more knowledgeable than myself on these dishes and Israeli programming

I think there is very little I can add. I don't know why there are so many dishes in that photo, Topper.
For private DTH, the most popular satellites are Amos, Nilesat and Hotbird.
Although most Israelis learn English at school and beyond, the average level is not good enough to watch anything without Hebrew subtitles. This is why Hot (cable) and Yes (Satellite) companies make a fortune on subscriptions.
Our national FTA channels (4 channels) can be received from Amos and DTT.
The channel video quality is quite poor and the programming is just rubbish and unless there is a major event, I don't usually waste my time watching Israeli TV.

Just back from a few days in Greece and found the time to go look for something I'd spotted on Google maps the last time I was in the area but was beaten by the weather. First image shows what I went for but some thieving git has already had it away so I made do with looking at the other dish on site complete with some bullet holes and the existing P2P mast further along the top. This is an old air force installation overlooking Keratea SE of Athens, 2300ft ASL.

Nice. I am only guessing the size probably about 2.5m. Size does matter.

On a recent trip to Fragneto L'Abate, I di not find one dish in the whole village, indeed a lot of people did not even have a television, I did find some aerials though but was facinated by the selection of what appeared to be homemade reception equipment

Top one looks like that point to point "cable" TV service you get in Southern Ireland.

See here:

Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service - Wikipedia
Yes I did an EPG system installation in the late 90's in a head-end run by Irish Multichannel (later renamed Chorus).
They used MMDS extensively for distributing tv signals around Limerick.
Lots of parabolics not pointing at the Clarke belt then!

Not sure what the situation is today - it may have given way to Saorsat?

A typical view from an apartment in Rishon LeTzion, Israel and note the alternative mounting arrangements and usual rooftop clutter from hotwater tanks aircon heat distributors and cables galore

I don't have solar water heating system because it is such an eye soar. I have an indoor electric water heating tank and it doesn't consume that much electricity 9 months of the year. For a large family, it is probably a good idea to have them.
BUT if Israelis have any sense, then they should use the space that the water tank and collectors take to put solar panels to generate electricity for their homes and sell the remainder to the IEC (Israel Electric Corporation).
The beauracracy is still a big headache even today, unfortunately.
