Hope the installer is someone credible and not your average Freesat/Sky installer.

My 1st motorised install about 20 years ago took me 3 days & I have learned a lot since then & if you had read all the information here you may have succeeded,

I hope you get a proper installer as the majority out there are only familiar with fixed dishes & generally bluff their way through if you can track the satellite arc 45 east to 45 west after the install then you have found a good installer.

Persistence needed.

Part of the fun is the satisfaction of getting it up and running in the first place.

After that, many of us like to tinker, fiddle, fettle and fudge.

Some of us even play with our dishes.

PS, JP: Are you able to post up some pics of the dish as it currently is?

Ditto.

Got basic tracking at the centre of the arc done within a couple of hours, but understanding how to get it to track accurately from end to end took a while longer.

I made it easier by using an 80cm, though. When I upgraded to TD110, manoeuvring the beast was a nightmare.

The worst bit was drilling into engineering brick to allow the T&K to be fitted!

i think it might be the angles of the setup cause the motor actually works, so thats why the installer is coming on wednesday as it made me stressed trying to figure out why it didnt get a signal

I thought you had a signal meter, to help you find the satellite?
One of the main reasons, not to get any signal, is due to the connections not being made correctly, or, as in my case, the F Connector being too tight, on the cable, and cutting off most of the braid, causing a very poor, intermittent, connection:
Fitting F Connector.jpg
With the cheap signal meters you know instantly, if the connection is working, as it lights up.
Plus you get a signal reading, even if the dish is pointing at the ground.
satellite meter.JPG

Once connected you increase the sensitivity, by adjusting the knob, until it's around the 5 position, you then move the dish, until it goes to 10, the maximum, adjust the knob again, decreasing sensitivity, until it reads 5, adjust the dish, until it reaches 10, then continue doing this until you've maximized the signal.
You then do the same with the elevation.
Once you have got the maximum signal quality you check your receiver to find out which satellite you're locked onto.

To track the arc accurately can take a while even after a successful install I tweak the settings after a strong wind as the 100cm can take a battering

Another good reason for keeping my dishes at ground level :D

Well then this should be the optimal solution from a set-up and maintenance perspective:

Exactly.

After a few short weeks, I took the TD110 off the T & Ks and put it on a Patio Mount instead.
