And then there can be other unforeseen problems - such as the fact some diseqc motors (notably the "Supreme Dark Motor") do not like working with some receivers.

But, yes, I completely agree that setting up your 1st (and probably your 2nd & 3rd) steerable dish takes a lot of time, patience and perservence (and probably quite a lot of "Naughty" words!)
PS: those diagrams in William1's post 133 give a very good idea of what needs to be taken into account - the dish declination setting is probably the most critical.

My first motorised took me 6 weeks (weekends) of trial and error, blood, sweat and nearly tears.

i remember i kept getting only part of the arc, i would decide to settle for that. then next weekend i would try again, eventually it all fell in to place.

Agreed ... You will never know if you are getting the best out of your setup or not ... until you learn the process yourself ......... its really not that hard ... just need to be very precise - and patient.

I assume it's just a parallax/perspective error that makes it look as if the dish will hit the annex roof when panning east?

i know but the installer only programmed those sats i listed

It is a shame that you did not include 52 east & 45 west satellites as this will mean a return visit of the installer & you will have had a better idea of how your dish is tracking the arc.
