My middle daughter is on holiday in Bali at the moment but when I asked her earlier this week she assured me she's "ages" away.

Hey tell her to get out, those Indonesian volcano's are very unpredictable when it comes to the size of the eruption, look at Mt. Tambora (1815, VE7) and Krakatoa (1883, VE6), two of the biggest in modern times, all in the Indonesian area.

The "Ring of Fire" is "firing" (Think Mexico) ATM - would not want to be anywhere near that area in the near future.

Message from daughter waiting for me this morning "We're on level 4 alert. This is so exciting !!!!!"

However this afternoon she seems to be on her way back. She messaged my wife from a plane as she was waiting to take off. She was not happy about cutting the holiday short.

Cool.....I wounder if that lightning is from the volcanic ash cloud or a thunderstorm??

Most probably from the ash eruption. It's a known phenomenon.

A distinct change of plume in the past 15 minutes. The second stream site has been intermittent since the release ash has increased in height
