If you have a mobile device have a look at the Firefox Focus browser. It strips out tracking and most adverts and makes pages load much faster. I've tried Facebook on the FB app & on FF and the difference is dramatic. The auto load sponsored videos have gone, and they slow page loads down dramatically.

Will try it too.

Binned the old Firefox on Android in favour of Adblock Browser.

I assume this new Firefox is based on the Quantum approach taken by the new-fangled Firefox 57 for PC?

Ah, it's not Quantum based .... that's still in Beta for Mobile.

Trouble is I'm right on the edge for the number of apps installed for the amount of native memory on my phone. I don't think I could install another one without running out of wiggle room for when they update - which they seem to do far too often in my opinion. I've had to delete a few of the lesser used apps when some of the larger apps update.

If I could uninstall some of the pre-installed crap that would be nice but I've failed so far. I would guess that Chrome falls under that category.

I always have CCleaner installed on my Android mob and use it everytime there are multiple updates (which I agree are far too many) to stop me running out of storage room and clean out redundant APKs

Ta for that. Now installed. I don't know why I didn't know about it before as I install it on all PCs I have anything to do with.

The only thing I have noticed is it’s blocking the Facebook page on the bottom of the forum front page.

Just solved that:

I have been using it since its launch, it transforms how a mobile browser works by blocking all adds and pop ups.
Cant recommend it enough.

OK, installed it this evening. The first thing I notice is that I can see no way to open multiple tabs. Is this possible?

I've tried it but I won't be keeping it on. Two reasons:

The first is the problem with opening extra tabs. I've found a way to do it but what a faff. First I have to make a long press on a link within a page and choose to open it another tab. Then I have to overwrite the URL of that tab with one that I want. Ridiculous.

The second problem is dealing with a page that uses frames. On Chrome I can move the viewing area anywhere I want. On Firefox the screen is rigidly divided into the frames and everything is scrunched up in each of the two frames.
