I'm in envy of those with big dishes.
Now the motorised one is up I might have to get myself a large ground mounted dish in my rear garden, something to mess around with C band possibly try Ka as well.

Would I be better off going for a prime focus or offset?

Thinking 1.2m - 2.0m

I'll have to check the angles over my fence first, that will be the deciding factor.

3 dishes is just not enough!

Been busy out in the garden, fence is down and I've moved some other fences to block the other entrance to the garden.
Need to take all that crap down the tip, none of it is mine!
Concrete posts came down with my SDS and a angle grinder to cut the metal.

Hopefully should be able to get large dish in there now :)

I'm after something a bit bigger for C and maybe mess with Ka, my 1m seems to cover Ku pretty well :)

In my case finding the best position is the big problem. I really need to put it on the flat roof 5 m+ higher but wanting a 2.4/2.4 dish I need planing approval and its one big wind load, therefore need loads of extra weight. Then its the extra cabling to my den. 12 m+ so at present figuring out the best position and what c band sats are worth bothering with. No rush as its cold out there for playing.

Has anyone seen these on eBay 152906185889, there are some on Aliexpress/Alibaba for MUCH less, how do they make them so cheap!
I wonder what they are like, I'm tempted to import one for a laugh.

The famous Fortec Star, nicknamed by a few members of this forum as "The Tin Dish". They are good for C band. There are a few forum members who have had some pretty good results on C Band with the 2.4m version. There was a 2.4m version listed for sale on the forum classifieds not so long ago.

They are not much use for Ku band and absolutely dire for Ka band but are a very good low cost introduction to C Band. Stick a cheapo Titanium C band LNB on one and you will be overrun with channels.
