Yeah it's not on the server for the unlocked firmware.
I guess they have pushed it but not uploaded it or something daft!
Don't thinks its anything to get to excited about looking at the changelog...P1010026.JPG

The quality of the Video output from the Edision is astonishingly good compared to all my other S2 boxes, which is a bonus.

It's a frequency a little too far from those prone to DECT interference, but it could be interference from elsewhere.

Turn off all other "noisy" kit, such as DECT, Routers etc. and see if the issue desists.

Before I resort to drastic and possibly violent action.....

Since we got back to Devon a few days ago I've had terrible trouble with 11509 MHz 5 deg W multistream (ie TF1 group, France Television group, etc). At best pixellating picture, at worst "no signal". This on Octagon, Edision etc, including the newly arrived second Edision (thank you sponsors for your as always excellent service). On the same dish (60 cm Raven/Sky type) everything else seems OK, Fransat working fine, and the other French multistream transponder on 12648 MHz is romping in.

Today I have been up and down the step ladder and I've tried everything, dish realignment, skew, different LNB, checking for plant growth, removing Disecq (a perennial problem here) - everything I can think of. And I still can't get a comfortable signal on11509 MHz.

Before I get out the big guns and go up to 80 cms or swing my 1 m dish on Irish Ka television round, has anyone else noticed a deterioration on 11509 MHz or is it something confined to my set-up? As I'm so far south I can't believe it's a change in transmission power or beam, as others further north would be worse affected than me.

Thanks for any confirmation or otherwise....

I've always found that transponder to be notably weaker than 12648. No changes here in the Midlands, but it has always required at least 80cm. Most sites list it as being on the Super beam - but I suspect that it might be on the weaker West beam instead, possibly in an attempt to limit reception. Both French multistream TPs use the same SR & FEC, so they should be the same *if* they're on the same beam..

Massive signal on an 80cm in North Yorkshire.

Same SS and SQ for both TPs.

yes, once you get up to 80cm there's practically no difference in signal strength - I've found zone 1 dishes won't pick 11509 up at all, while zone 2 dishes are borderline.

Also- the Italian multistreams on 12.5W were replicated on Eutelsat 5WA yesterday, so all the French and Italian multistream channels are now on 5W. This will be a good test of whether the Edision etc can tune new multistreams itself, or whether it'll need a software update.

12543H S2/8PSK 34200 8/9 - streams 33, 34, 35, 36 (includes DMAX Italia, NOVE HD, Spike Italia, VH1 Italia, TV8, Cielo, Paramount, TG24 etc)

Interesting! I'm also in the Midlands (Worcester) and find 11509H to be stronger than 12648V.

11509H 16.0dB
12648V 15.5dB

I also had trouble locking both with a 60cm dish but they're fine on an 80cm. The issue is the fact that it's 8PSK with 8/9 FEC - this requires a massive 10.6dB C/N to lock. In comparison, the Fransat transponders are 8PSK 3/4 which only requires 7.9dB - so if your set-up is giving you around 10dB C/N on most transponders, you can lock the Fransat ones absolutely fine while getting nothing on the multistream ones even though the signal received from both is similar (they are all on the stronger Super beam).

The new Italian ones on 12543H are also 8PSK 8/9 so require the higher signal level. I'm locking these at around 15.5dB-16.0dB so they're similar to 11509H/12648V.

These values are from my PC card. The Edision signal meter isn't particularly sensitive so all of these just show 100% quality!

...Just to add for anyone having trouble with the French multistreams, skew seems absolutely crucial. I gained a whole decibel of signal on both transponders just by nudging the LNB slightly.

Since they use both polarities in the same slot: 11509 H and 11512 V, rejection of the opposite polarity would be critical.
I don't know what the required protection ratio would be for 8 PSK when near the limit, but it would be quite significant.

Enjoy playing with it.

Firmware upgrades are thin on the ground (Very few bugs to eliminate) but here are links to the Official and Modified sources:

Ah, you're in Greece.

Far trickier than in the UK and environs :(
