My Satellite Setup
Virgin Media V6 into Samsung 50MU6120
My Location
United Kingdom
Hi!

I'm currently on Virgin's 350 VIVID package. I live in a very rural area and am one of the few in the area that are cabled by VM. I was wondering if I could sell my internet onto others, the legality of it and whether anyone here has seen something similar? (Previously worked as a network engineer - know exactly what I need to do something like this). Financially it'd make sense for both me and people buying it from me - they'd have limited speeds (not nearly as bad as what they'd get buying their own!) and pay less. I assumed this would count as taxable income, which will put me into the next tax band according to this calculator (UK Income Tax Calculator 2017), as I'm extremely close to it with just my normal income. If this isn't possible because some clause in VM's terms, would it be possible on business internet or a dedicated line? I'm intrigued if anyone here has done or seen something similar and can tell me how that went.

Thanks in advance

Is your VM account a domestic or business one?

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...
My Location
Near Pontop Pike, Co. Durham
High usage perhaps?

Check your responsibility for items downloaded and places visited. Who would be held responsible, or at the very least an accomplice, if prohibited stuff such as terrorist information were downloaded? Or dodgy places on the dark web? Ordering illegal drugs?

You might say that none of your neighbours are like that but what about a change of neighbours?

I personally wouldn't risk it tbh.

Whereabouts are you (roughly)? I'm intrigued to hear about Virgin Media being present in a very rural area.

I hadn't realised that, thanks for letting me know.

It would seem very odd for Virgin Media to be available in a very rural area for only certain properties, perhaps a main cable happens to pass on it's way to serve somewhere else?
