Hello,
I have modified a Gilat AN 8002 LNB so that all three bands (A, B and C) in the KA band can be switched with one LNB. With the polar converter presented here it is now possible to receive all four polarizations H, V, LHCP and RHCP as well as band A-B-C with one device. The annoying replacement or a complex LNB changer is eliminated. Unfortunately, I am unable to reach Band D with this LNB. Currently, I lose about 2 dB in band C above 20900 MHz.
I will try to modify the filter to compensate for these losses.

Everything is controlled with the POLOLU controller.

best regards dreamsat

Hello Trust,

i have the Gilat 8002.

You have the 8004. I'm still looking for it but there are none at the moment. With this you should still come down an area further. 20,200 to 21,200.

Did some work at that 8004 to reduce the weight .
Took the RX part out and made me a angled waveguide part to connect the feedhorn , not so good , gave me a loss of 2 dB.
Overnight came the idea to cut out the intern waveguide , did not test it but should be OK .

@Trust yours is neater than mine which were hacked with a chop saw. Here's a pair of band B with external reference, fed via a splitter, . It works reasonably well shifting the elevation axis by about 3 degrees and using a co-ax relay to switch between them.

If anyone, who has taken a Gilat ODU apart, doesn't want the TX part, I'd be interested in the board shown here.

<edit> My linear arrangement added

Hello,

Original Gilat AN8002 LNB has frequencies of Ka-band B:
RX = 19200 - 20200 MHz,
LO = 18250 MHz.
I have read this thread, but unfortunately there are no details, how to convert it to the Ka-band A or Ka-band C.

@dreamsat1, may I ask you please to share with us your knowledge, how this Gilat AN8002 LNB can be converted to Ka-band A (18200-19200 MHz)? What changes should be done with electronics?
Some detailed "howto" tutorial would be appreciated.
Seems to me, I've seen some your photos and info about RF band-pass filter and local oscillator modification somewhere, but can't find this info again.
I think this thread would be a right place for all interested people to find all the necessary info about AN8002 hardware modification.
