Hmmm ..
This is just a theory ...but I couldn't help noticing that when the BER was at it's worst ...and the Newsroom unlockable but the adjacent channel carry ACM VCM data was wildly varying QPSK 8PSK 16PSK ..etc
But am getting a more stable almost lockable signal now ...and the adjacent channel is steady-ish at 32PSK..
Now this data channel is very close frequency wise...possibly too close...and digital data as we know can cause bleed over and interference ..
I'm wondering if the modulation type (ACM/VCM) when Q or 8PSK is causing trouble for the close proximity newsroom channel when large quantities of data are being transmitted...and less so when in a steady 32PSK mode.
This would not cause issues for the intended recipients if their receivers used narrow band filtering..
One for the experts perhaps ?
your thoughts please ...or am I just barking...

Our commercial receivers are designed to accommodate wide band signals used in DBS muxes ..
maybe theirs are not ..
after all they Always use the same narrow bandwitdth and low SR 3629.
maybe this is not the case with the data channel.

That's food for thought VS. With the ACM/VCM feed steady here at 32PSK at present, I get a glitch-free Newsnet.
( QPSK shown in spectrum, but was steady at 32PSK)

Could be worth checking the ACM feed when I next get a poor Newsnet signal.

My Newsroom feed is also steady now on the F15 ...and as you say the data channel is a steady 32PSK ..
I really do think I've sort of hit on the probable cause..
Pity we cant adjust the bandwidth on the TBS card ...

Maybe you can on your ranger ?
but can it produce a watchable video out signal ?

The Ranger doesn't resolve ACM/VCM, just finds the carrier, so I can't check parameters like we can with Crazyscan.
However, it's fast. It'll go down to a 10MHz scan, but at 50MHz it's good enough to see the separation of the two carriers (guard band between the adjacent carriers 18556V and 18561V). With the Ranger, carriers are reversed, i.e. 18556 is to the right of the ACM carrier. There may be a way of flipping the spectrum, but I haven't found it yet.

It would be interesting to see if the guard band is fully effective when the data activity is at max ..
ie any co channel overspill ...
Of course this doesn't preclude the possibility that the tuners in the F15 and TBS cards etc are so 'wide-band' that they try and grab both carriers at once ..resulting in the interference we see.
Again I'm just guessing ..but Newsnets dedicated equipment may be narrow band filtered ..thus the guard band is sufficient.

Yes, as the Ranger scans in real time, hopefully I can check for any anomalies over a period when the data are more active.
I'll leave it running for periods of the day if Newsnet plays up, although it's been consistent today and yesterday here.
Ranger needs an hour or two charging at the mo, it's been busy today.

This is interesting, I'm getting some picture break up on Newsnet on the flagship Alien3 and have done since the start of me experimenting in Ka, I always thought the was a signal issue, but on the AZBox MiniMe American Edition the picture is rock solid and always has been. I think it is suffering some kind of interference, because if I get my dect phone any where near it the signal goes completely, yet on the MiniMe it does not. So it looks like certain receivers are more prone to interfence than others. the two receivers are both fed off the SL3 by the way. Two picture attached, with the phone no where the receivers and two with it very close. As you can see the MiniMe suffers no problem at all.

... interesting VS, i too have this on order..... ordered in good faith that it was the product shown in the advertisement. If mine turns up the same as yours i will put a complaint in to eBay requesting a re-fund as goods were not as advertised and see what happens

... coming back to this then VS, the thing never turned up. The maximum delivery date was the 30th of last month and as of last Thursday it had not turned up. Advised eBay of situation and they re-imbursed the whole amount within two days of opening the enquiry.
Luckily i had ordered the same thing from a different supplier which turned up on time.

Hi Vipersan,

What differences are between series SL3K4NR1 and SL3K4RO-03?The last I've received recently for tests.
Since I don't have large offset antenna, for which it was designed this lnb,I will try to install it on a PFA.What do you think, its worth trying on such a antenna?
I'll do my first test on an offset dish of 85 cm. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to catch the signal with this dish, because if the footprint of the Astra 1L -19.2° E is correct, the signal on my area is 60 dBW. I mean signal is 14.5 dB with 85 cm dish.
Being an lnb for Ka and Ku-band ,I assume that you have used for each band. What results have you had in the Ku band?
Regards

Edit:Here is the series I have:

Gain wise there is little to choose between them ...and as to ku circular ...
it actually makes for problems ...which is why we blank the port off and prevent those signals ever reaching the probes.
good luck tho' with the dish adaption ..
will be interesting to see your results.

..just ordered a second SL3K4NR1 .....
Thought I'd get in quick as he only has 5 left..

VS,

Would you please be able to provide the eBay listing number for the SL3K4NR?
I tried the eBay item number from page 2 of this topic (281406044888) but it did not find a listing or an expired listing?

Rgds
