This satellite is intended to replace the current Telstar 12 satellite at 15 degrees west, and due to be launched later this year (firm date pending)

From a press release in 2013...

OTTAWA, CANADA, September 9, 2013 – Telesat, a leading global satellite operator, has procured a powerful, multi-mission satellite from Astrium that will replace Telesat’s Telstar 12 satellite at 15 degrees West while significantly expanding coverage of growing markets in South America, the Atlantic and EMEA region. The new state-of-the-art satellite, called Telstar 12 VANTAGE, will utilize a combination of broad regional beams and more focused high throughput spot beams to increase capacity and offer superior performance for broadband networks on the ground, in the air and at sea. By using Ku-band across all coverage beams, Telstar 12 VANTAGE will be fully backwards compatible with existing Ku-band terminal equipment.

Telesat's info on this satellite is available at https://www.telesat.com/our-fleet#telstar-12v

Looking at the planned footprints, one interesting beam is a "North Sea" Ku beam that is high powered covering the UK, Ireland and much of Scandinavia within a 56dbW contour. There are also several other high-powered Ku band spot beams targeting different areas stretching down from the western Mediterranean towards the Middle East.

Thinking out loud here, with Intelsat 907 about to reach its end-of-life soon at 27.5 west, could the Freeview "Satback" backup from there move to 15 west some time next year on the North Sea beam, assuming Telstar 12V successfully launches?

Intelsat 907 is not expected end-of-life soon.
The whole Intelsat IX series lasts much longer than the 13 years original estimate.
Latest estimate for 907 (launched Feb 2003) from this year's Intelsat Form 20-F, is Q3 2020.
The oldest ones of the series, 901 and 902 launched summer 2001, still functioning non-inclined.

Intelsat have 60 satellites at their disposal they are very unlikely to loose a contract to the Canadian competition:)

http://exnetapps.intelsat.com/flash/coverage-maps/index.html

They also have spare satellites that can be moved anywhere
79.0°W Intelsat 16 launched in 2010 spare capacity atm
95.0°W Intelsat 30 recently launched not used atm

In November this year, Japan for the first time will launch a commercial satellite, which is owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Telesat the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan said in a statement.

According to the ministry, the launch will take place on November 24 from Tanegashima space center in the south of the country. The spacecraft will be place into orbit by a carrier rocket H-2A.

The order to launch a spacecraft of the Canadian company was accepted in September 2013 by the Japanese company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The device is expected to provide broadcasting over the territory of South America and the Atlantic Ocean.

In early January of this year, the Japanese government approved the adoption of a new ten-year program aimed at the development of space technologies, as well as improved security and reliability of the industry in this direction. In the next ten years it is planned to increase the capitalization of the national space industry up to 5 trillion yen (over $ 40 billion). It is noted that the cooperation with the US in this area will be strengthened within the framework of the program. It is also expected to launch eight satellites of various types by 2025, TASS reports.

If Telesat offer a cheaper transponder lease than Intelsat then a move could be on the cards.
