^^ I tried a generic fta HD box looped off my Dreambox a while back. It was flaky as hell - worked on some satellites and not others. I gave up in the end.
Maybe it's a problem with the Dreambox. My Linux box doesn't have loop out but Vantage does. The Vantage is in front of the Linux box. With the Vantage in standby it works 100%. Needs to be powered though otherwise nothing gets through. SPS would be a better option than loop through as it lets you turn the second receiver off. The Vantage is using 11 watts in standby so it would be good to be able to switch it off.

I'm running CCcam on the openbox (for card sharing at my 2nd home), but from my understanding, the openbox will only connect to the other cccam box when it is booted up, so how can it still loop the cccam coding into the sky+ box. I also want to be able to record as per usual on the sky+ box (ability to record two programs). what if I was to use some sort of splitter to get both loop signal (from th openbox) and the 2nd LNB signal into the Sky+ box. if that makes sense to anyone, lol

For full functionality you need to run another cable from the dish to the Openbox. You cant use splitters - an lnb is an active device switched by tones & voltages.

Ok guys, I understand what you guys are saying. so thank you. Basically, if I what to have full functionality from both receivers then I need to have a seperate signal coming from an LNB. Now as far as I remember, a sky dish (LN:cool: can run up to four seperate feeds from the LNB this is to allow for customer who want to use multi-room services. So in thoery, can I not just run a second cable from one of the inputs on the LNB down to the received. This way I will get two inputs for the sky box and one for the openbox, then I can just loop them and sorted?? what you think???

thank you

No need to loop anything. Just put a 4 port (or 8 port) LNB at the dish and bring a separate cable down to wherever you need one.

Ok, but my main house is in croydon, london and my 2nd home is in 3 doors away. I do not mind running the cables from the LNB to both houses, but I would like for the sky box to be connected to the openbox some how so that it can pic up the cccam coding from it)

You can't do that mate. You need to go back and read the whole thread (and the other one) again from scratch. If you want to share a subscription card that card must be connected to a card server (either a Vu+ or a Dreambox, running CCcam... or in a PC with CCcam and a card reader/card server set up).

If the other property is next door and you can run a cable than the easiest way is run your phone line to the other house, add a second Sky receiver in the other house so both are sharing the same phone number, and pay a tenner a month for multiroom... although this would technically be a breach of contract.
