Yes - it could be a noisy power supply. You can get all sorts of high pitched whistles & buzzes from partially failed psu components

Keep your fingers well clear whilst you have the top off & the power on - switched mode power supplies can really spoil your day if you stick your fingers in the wrong place!

I see from the posts that there may be an epidemic fault on the fans ?
I also see there has been a patch that can turn off the fan.!

Don't believe all you read from the earlier posts, it's certainly not an epidemic. And I believe the fan has always had a manual override in the menu.
