I have one in the garage... but won't want to part with it :)

What moonbase said. I have one of these motors and they look sturdy enough.

I doubt the 1224 will ever fail! And it would be relatively easy to fix if it does. I think this motor is a good substitute.

I am not personally a fan of 1.2m CM polar mounts - they work.. but I don't think they are sturdy enough.

Question about CM PM: Got my PM clamped on 75mm pipe, but when all bolts tighten firmly PM still can be moved around the pipe. Perhaps pipe should be some kind of 76mm. Of course, I will not look for new pipe, will just put some spacer between PM and pipe, but, anyway it would be better to have PM fixed right away without doing additional movements

Yeah, it's designed to go on a 3 inch/76mm pole. There's also some sort of lining inside the clamp in mine... almost tarry/sandpaper like thing. Likely to try and mitigate slipping.

No no no Jason, I only show to prevent you looking for 75mm pipe, I am not so bad :D . Go for 76mm one. However if you have 75mm it is easy to be fixed. I already been in the garage, found some pipe (perhaps INOX ), cut 2 pieces x 150mm, made cut along length and used them as spacers. After tightening bolts impossible to move PM. So, issue is fixed.

Jason,

The motor I linked to above is a CX5000 H to H motor, it is a scaled back version of a Jaeger 1224 and will be perfectly OK for a 1.2m channel master dish. I have got a brand new one here in the box and a brand new Jaeger 1224 in the box and the packaging and paperwork for both look like they come from the same factory.

I didn't realise they were that sturdy. They don't look like they are.
At the moment the spare dish is a workbench which I'm gonna use to make a modified lnb/c band bracket. It'll make life easier this way. It came with fixed mount and this isn't the best.
I'd be able to use it on this dish and have a back up just in case my motor ever fails. By the sound of it I'll be ok.
I've never had a PM so I don't know how good or bad they are. But I like the idea of having one and setting it up.

Almost a year later, and probably shouldn't be bumping a wanted ad.
But just wondering did anyone buy and install one of these at the time, and did it survive since.
Don't need one, but considering purchasing one as a backup for the CM120.
