with the ongoing cutbacks at the BBC I bet 27.5W gets axed when the contract comes up for renewal. If the Beeb is cutting the newsbeat & all the local news sites to save a few million quid I cant see 27.5W being a high priority for keeping as its never used.....

It may be on there already (VPID:
6401, APID: 6402, DVB SUB: 6405).

The BBC-B DVB-T2 maximum bitrate is still 40.2Mbps which is accounted for in the satellite feed anyway as the other channels were higher bitrate till recently when the space was cleared (giving space for Channel 5HD).

How can I watch Channel 5HD using DR HD F15 receiver?
I can see 6Mbps video traffic on.
6401 VPID editing not gives Me picture.

On another note, does anyone know how old is this satellite and if there are plans of replacing in the near future? Of course nothing ensures that reception will get better and reach us down here but we can always live in hope :)

It does get used though! Some transmitters in West Somerset apparently fall back onto it fairly often due to tidal fading on their reception of Mendip.

Also, when there's been bad storms in the far North and West of Scotland, transmitters there have fallen back onto this feed when they've lost their terrestrial feed. These are easy to spot on the BBC Transmitter faults pages as they come up as "Wrong region" when it happens as the error reported (BBC One HD on 27.5W is the English version!).

Actually, according to this - http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/gallerypage.php?txid=634

One of the transmitters I thought used it quite a lot has now been switched to BT Fibre. Looks like The satellite feed was used as a stopgap though. Not sure about any other transmitters over that way though!

Simlple question: is the TM 5502HD receiver able to open this channels? I know the TM5403 M3 works, but saw no reference to the Technomate 5502 HD CI+ with intelsat 907...

Simple answer - no.

A spread of 48deg is far too wide, regardless of whether you aligned the dish to either of those positions or to a mid-point.

Do they really grow Bananas in Slovenia? :)

In Slovenia you need 1m to pick up Intelsat in Focus. The Signal varies. In good weather condition you would get C/N 8 or more. In bad weather you could have no receiption. The Astra Channels you should get with a Camping dish.

It was launched in Feb 2003 with an expected life of 13 years - so on its last legs now.

thats lame :(

Currently have 2 dishes 90cm for Astra 28.2 and 1m for 13-19.2-23.5.
So 1m is the bare minimum for 27.5w ? Do i have to have the lnb in the central position ?I have an inverto ultra black - that should help with a bit of signal boost right?

thanks

There's no chance at all you can add 27.5W successfully to that dish. As stated, the spread is simply too wide. And no LNB in the world can overcome the inefficient or negligible reception engendered by a considerably offset LNB.

Either use a third dish, focussed on 27.5W, or possibly motorise the 1m.

And don't hold out any hope for these Channels to be available long term. They are backups for DTT and increasingly local Freeview Transmiters are making use of Fibre connections for this purpose.

BBC Four HD just been added. I don't think it's already running but just do a rescan and you'll find it.
