They have been back to me offering new equipment and a 12 month half price deal but we are not biting.........., perhaps need to get myself a motor now for my 1.2 which has been idle for quite some time

Yeh it's a great feeling. I'm going to 'waste' my first few months savings on a new box and slightly better dish when I get round to it. I wish I could live without nowtv but I can't speak enough German etc to live without the Sky F1 coverage. I tried rtl and 5live audio but it's so far out of sync it got annoying. What FTA channels do you guys spend the most amount of time watching?

Damit, the curse of two usernames strikes again.

You can always run 5Live radio broadcast on another device for the audio

With a Pure Dab Radio you can synchronise the audio simple :)

I think you are making the right decision. I disconnected from a TV service that we had 15 years ago. They kept calling until I changed my telephone number. Then they sent guys to my apartment to try to persuade me to subscribe again. I told them not even for free for the next twenty years.
Then they had the nerve to knock on my door one day to say that I am connecting to their services illegally and they asked to check my TV. I was in a good mood so I let the guy in, he checked and found nothing only better services from satellites.
Never heard from them again.
The trouble here in Israel is that people want to watch programs with Hebrew subtitles and for this they willing to pay a lot of money in subscription. I tried in vain to explain to my relatives and friends that subtitles ruin the enjoyment of the program because when you read the subtitles, you can't really see the faces of the actors and how they act or enjoy the view and sceneries. Thank goodness I don't need subtitles for English speaking films.
In the UK you have so many other options that we don't have.
Hope you stick to your decision to disconnect. You will both feel better, especially with saving a bit of cash.

Yeh were lucky i guess.I have an NC+ (Poland) subscription so i can watch a fair bit of stuff on that as well as an MTV Unlimited card and NOWTV. I've kept my Sky card in to watch BT Sport. For the last 2 weeks we've been keeping track of what we watched on pay channels and what we watched on FTA ones. It was well over 85% FTA, and surprisingly i waste a huge amount of my life watching Sky News.

As for the twin username i have benwiddowson and benwiddowson82. I think i may of had the Ben Widdowson when i just browsed the forum rather than the odd post. I think its more of a curse of Apple Keychain insisting on signing me in on that logon. I don't want/need the non 82 one. I will get round to sorting Keychain out one day.

Is that by pausing it? I have a PureDAB but not really used it a great deal

I have a Pure Evoke 2S that has a variable pause control for the audio in sec:- 0:05 to 2:50 sec delay it probably goes beyond 2.5 sec but never found it was needed.

I had nc+ subscription few years ago and it kept me happy, until they merged with Canal+ Poland and they made the prices a bit too high. I even tried to learn a bit of Polish which was useful. The only thing I disliked was that many channels had the voice over dubbing which made it very difficult to concentrate. I even tried to find a solution to separate the audio voices but no luck. The best solution was to click on "Mute" button for a bit of peace and quite.

I'm going to cancel Sky just as soon as I've finished watching all the stuff on the damn box. I'm not making much progress as it's summer and I'm out most evenings. I'll only be saving about £28/month though but still better than nothing.

I´m sure Lazarus would make some kind of comment! Along the lines of " Summer is down to minus 5 Celsius, in Yorkshire! "

There's other alternatives too if you don't have DAB. I have a DVB-T USB stick and use DVB software to timeshift radio 5 live via terrestrial.

There was also a program available called Babbleback too for Windows where it would delay an input audio source by a set number of seconds before playing it again via the PC speakers - all that was needed was a line in cable from your radio to the line in input on the PC and you'd be sorted.

Apparently its still available here but I've no idea how it works these days as I've not used it since I had Windows XP!

Done it! Feeling the freedom. Amusingly, the S-y guy said they'd been busy with it being the end of the year and people looking at outgoings.
