They are both very good but I prefer the 5502HD as it works better on all satellite transponders with the Inverto Black Ultra 0.2 Lnb + 100cm Gibertini,

The TH5302HD works ok on feed satellites but has issues with the Inverto Black Ultra on 28.2 east,19.2 east & 13 east where some transponders show no signals on my 88cm mesh dish,
to overcome this I use a 0.1 Lnb most of the good quality ones work ok with this set up.

Trying the TM5302HD IBU with the 100cm has the same issues with some transponders on 28.2 east,19.2 east & 13 east showing no signals.
Thanks .. i think il get the 5502HD, i also have the Inverto Black Ultra 0.2 Lnb :)
cheers Rob

just a follow up note .. do NOT buy a TM- 5502HD !
Blind scan does NOT work properly, it ignores your set range and scans the Whole lot !

It certainly works perfect at this end.............I do not watch many channels as such and bought the 5502 on recommendations and comparisons etc, basically for the feed side of the hobby
.
'william-1' is a very experienced user and whatever faults/positives he finds he posts.

Just ran a quick check.......no fine tuning with 1.8m dish:-

28.2ºE Range= Ku 11200 to 11600........found 22 transponders.
40.5ºW Range = C-band 4000-42000..........found 26 transponders.

Individually I am very content with the TM5502 HD for the purposes I use it for.

Best wishes 'rob12770' with your feed hunting. respect-048.gif

well, it didn't work here.. and it has been stated by others also inc William that it has blind scan issues.. i tried MANY MANY times with it.. and tried resetting it many times.. it didn't work, just scans through everything.

even today i have 2 phoned sat shops and they agreed the 5502 has got blind scan issues..looking at the 5302 maybe now ..although its old, and discontinued, hard to find .. other alternatives guys ? ( no pc cards please )

He has tried the 6903 pcie card, as most tbs cards more or less work the same, I don't think that would be the way forward.

Enigma2 is definitely not for the inexperienced, and with the "right" image can be a cracking box, just as long as it's a real enigma 2 box, and not a fake "tm-800" springs to mind.

The 5302 is a very stable box, only real pain is the 45000 sysmbol rate problem with blindscan.

Really wished I had purchased the tm5402, instead of the Dr Hd D15, this is mainly to do with the support, and "plugins"

Likewise as post #25 I use both the TM5302HD & 5502HD & find they work better than any other stand alone satellite receiver the small issues that I get are cleared up with a Factory reset about every 3 weeks,

I can only surmise that the receiver build quality is not 100% maybe this is why TM stopped making them ?
I also have a 1st edition TM5302HD with the same size case as the TM5502HD this also works to the same level as the slim version,

To complement this set up I use the TM_F3/5 as the plug in's are 2nd to none,
The main fault with the M3 & F3/5 is the erratic data base that loads 50% more transponders than I can receive  I will just have to learn to ignore this as the HD channels I can clear without Ethernet makes this an excellent receiver just a shame about the poor SD picture quality:mad:

I have 2 slim versions of the tm5302, Dr hd15, tm800, vu duo, and tbs 6983 as my 6925 had problems, and I prefer the PC option in my case.

That's because I am sat in the front room, PC plugged in to 40" Samsung led panel.

Also PC plugged into denon AV amp, also to the Mavrick D1+ dac.

When I am in Sherborne all I use then is the tm5302, alsat 1.2 positoner, SMR99G h2h (36v) and 80cm mesh dish, plugged into a Philips 32" 100hz crt.

The PC way is more reliant on the dvb player you choose to use.

But as I have said before, I can only speak from my personal experiences.

In my personal opinion, I think you would get on with the crazyscan, vlc option, or something a little more fancy, easy blindscan but that's a paid for product.

And I use that quite a bit now, as once set I can get very lazy:cool:

its not the scan programs that are the issue.. its the main viewer progs.. DVBdream (nightmare) is STILL blue screening and crashing my PC when I click on positioner options.. now this is a FRESH install of win 10, about 15 minutes ago .. what a nightmare..

It starting to sound like there is a hardware fault somewhere. blue screen crash, I will need to ponder this and maybe ask a couple of others in the forum.

Have a look out for a second hand TM-5302 or a TM-8000. The TM-8000 is the Technomate "forgotten box" and uses similar firmware to the TM-5302. Both these units are OK for blind scanning.

Here is a TM-5302 on eBay
Technomate Digital Satellite Receiver TM-5302HD

Here is another TM-5302 on eBay

Here is a TM-8000 on Amazon

The best value of those three options above is the TM-8000, it is being sold by Technomate themselves at quite a bit below the original retail price.

There is availability, just do it and have done with all the grief.

I had the 8000 and this has a bug, it sometimes crashes on HD channels, they know about it but either cannot fix it or are unwilling. Hence probably that's why it's been sold so cheap.

Steer clear of the TM8000 loads of bugs not sorted out by the Korean software staff they never spent enough time sorting out the known problems & just released it for the hell of it

Very irresponsible like most of the software problems with satellite receivers they refuse to spend money improving the product all Far East manufacturers are guilty of this,
Just stick You Tube on it to help sell the 1st production run" 3 months later You Tube stops working as do other features added to sell the new smart box,

Not so smart as Far East boxes are getting a bad name due to lack of software investment in the more expensive boxes by the same manufacturer with a culture of sell sell the new smaller cheaper box that does not have the quality of the box it has supposed to have replaced just a few more plug in's to help sell it.:(
