Thanks for the advice. I bought a Viaccess card and hardware cam this week. I put it in(Wednesday) and it was virtually plug & play, read the card fine.
Then (Saturday 3/11/2012) I got "you do not have the rights to access this program" So I checked the "consultation rights" in the Hardware CAM menu, there are 3 entries in this menu????
1st - no start or expire date
2nd - start date expire date <<<<WTF??????
31/10/2012 2/11/2012 <<<<WTF??????
3rd - no start or expire date
According to the Hardware CAM menu, this card was activated on the day I put it in the receiver (31/10/2012) and was valid for three days or until 2/11/2012. <<<<<<< Is this normal??
I also checked the entitlements in CCcam, the date 2/11/2012 was the same as the hardware CAM reported, so I'm almost certain it's the card. Is there a normal or special procedure to activate these JSC cards? How do I know if it's "ACTIVATED"
I emailed the card supplier today, won't hear anything until Monday or Tuesday.
This is the first time I have ever used a hardware cam, how do you update the firmware? I selected "update" from the CAM menu but it displays "searching" for almost a decade, literally 30 min. It is a Smit CAM, and I'm thinking it's a POS from what I've seen/read.
BTW, a lot of people complain about the picture quality, I actually think it's good, IMO just as good as Sky UK SD. If I get the activation problems sorted, I'll definitely be renewing, as they have a shedload of NBA coverage.
