Sorry about this but its another magic eye question.

I have a basic system - SKY HD box with a cable from the RF2 output to a TV link F140 distribution amp in the loft feeding 3 tvs. All 3 tvs in the bedrooms are fed through an aerial wall socket. One of which has a magic eye.

The problem is that I am unable to change channels with the remote and the red light on the magic eye is not lit. However the picture and the sound are perfect. The distribution amp in the loft has a red light on so I know the cables and connections seem sound.

Any ideas, Thanks in advance.

The remote eye needs a 9v power feed which the RF2 outlet of the Digibox normally supplies. Unfortunately the distribution amplifier isn't supplying this 9V and it's highly probablr that it can't.

You need an in-line power supply similar to those used for an external TV aerial amplifier. These supply 12v normally so a 9v one may be difficult to obtain.

As the distribution gets a power supply from the Sky Box via the rf2 output, does it not allow the power to pass through?
I take it if I bypassed the distribution amp and joined the cables together in the loft it would work?

The magic eye is an Antiference ME200 F Remote-Link. According to the instructions it requires 9V DC.

On the instructions for the TV link F140 distribution amp it doesnt talk about any extra power supplies for the magic eye - it just say plug it into each tv you want to control.

These are all brand new recently bought items. Any other thoughts.
Cheers
I thought this was a simple system to set up!!

Yes in a normal situation that would work. But your distribution amp is breaking the circuit. Distro amps are not exactly normal household systems.

So the F140 amplifier doesn't do exactly what it says on the box. According to its instructions it allows signals from the eye to pass through. And I have seen this working in another house. That was the reason why I bought it.

Could it be the aerial wall plate. Do these have to be a certain type?

The amp is fine and should do what it says on the box, what is probably not fine is the TV outlet plate, it's probably isolated and needs to either be replaced by a non-isolated unit, or perhaps the innards removed and a direct connection made through the hole.

Yes, first thing I'd do is whip off a faceplate and see if it's isolated, the presence of any components will indicate it is. If it isn't I'd put the magic eye straight into the back of the Skybox and test it just to make sure it's not U/S.
