Just a little information for those of us here in the Canaries.
Radioagogo, a fellow forum poster, came to see me this morning. We did some tests. As people who follow this thread will know, ITV has been watchable since the move to 1N. We tried, and tested for signal strength and quality, with (a) my existing Boshmann universal LNB, (b) an Inverto Black Ultra and (c) a Technomate TM.
Conclusion.
The Boshmann and Black Ultra were almost identical in performance. If anything, the Boshmann was better, but insignificant.
The Technomate TM however, was way better. So much so that C5SD was clear on the EPG, whilst completely unobtainable on the other two.

Today a major calima (dust storm) has developed here in Gran Canaria. It is the worst I have seen in the eight years I have lived here. I can report that 1N TPs both vertical and horizontal are still coming in fine. If we ever get any rain (there was none this Winter gone) I will report on the effect of that, although by then I guess we will be on 2F and 1N will be over at 19.2ºE :-(

Thank you for this very useful and informative post. Was this test done with your 1.25m dish ?

Yes BluePlatinum, we have also had a very heavy calima today as well. Maybe on a good day BBC?.
Rain, rain, what's that? Last time there was any sign was Feb 2011.

1.8 tecatel prime focus seems to work ok in Gran Can. Slight loss of some channels between 8 and 9pm.

Is there a specific report for this including LNB type etc. Would this suggest a smaller offset would give a similar performance ?

I think Black Ultra LNB was used. No smaller 1.5m offset he tried no good, couldn´t get all channels.

Enjoy it whlst it lasts. Was it the Tecatel dish? Also did you build a concrete base over the stand or just bolt it?

i dont really know the brand......completely dark gray in colour......i will make some fotos on tuesday when i am back at the spot (the dish is not mine, i installed it for a friend)...no cement base needed; i just bolted it to the floor....the dish came with a great base/foot. (very sturdy).

Hola Peeps, hope this will be of interest. Been playing with a rather battered 1.7m (horizontal measurement) Tecatel O/F dish. After much twisting and jumping up and down on the dish (not joking) and messing with the focal distance locked good stable pictures from 11053, 10964 and 11127. Nothing on any of the other 1n transponders, not a squeak. Sorry can't give more detailed data but can't measure it. Spiderbox giving 46% quality on 11053 and 10964 and 42% on 11127 using Technomate TM-1 lnb, definately superior to the Inverto black ultra in this case. which wouldn't lock ch 4 hd. The focal distance problem may be the dish still a bit out, or more likely the wrong lnb holder as it's about an inch further in than the mounting hole. Interesting that signal seems stronger in Tamaragua and Villaverde, ITV on a 1.25 just. Questions, please use other thread. Ta.

Thanks for these reports. Good to know. If, when we lose 1N, it is too small for 2F etc. then maybe it will pick up the feeds on Intelsat 907 being discussed at -http://goo.gl/pTIiE
