Holding Topic for general comments once 2E is on station and the transfers from existing Birds commence.

Signal reports to the dedicated regional Topics instead, please.

Ok, as the time is nigh (Couple or three days), the Topic is now Unlocked, just to avoid the embarrassment of all the Staff being tucked up in bed when she lights up!

Yep, same here. Either light pollution from the moon or clouds. I even set up a crude tracking device using an old polar mount, so it's all my fault. In just the same way as it always rains the day after I wash the car :(

Quick question, when will the channels move and how long does that take, if 2E is almost in position?

SES's last info was that the transfers will occur stages up until mid-February.

Whether that is true or not is a different matter.

Interesting that it seems 2E hasn't been slowing down

Already the data that you see via the tracking is a prediction not the actual location of Astra 2E when it arrives at 28.2 east in about 30 min the satellite will stop here test then replace Astra 1N at long last :-balloons

For anyone who is interested in remotely tracking 28ºE, band-C and band-D transponders, from this location (38.5N, 0.5W) in (almost) real time I have set up a Vu+ Duo connected to a Famaval 1.8m dish. I'll leave it running until switchover is known to be completed (and will add new transponders if/when there are any). Output is available here.
