Confusion is spreading like a virus. Only SES may definitely solve this "mystery"...

I just contacted Lyngsat and got an interesting response:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They have unfortunately put wrong info at their Facebook site. I got a mail
about this two days ago, so I checked an extra time with SES. SES still says
they have switched to Astra 1N, not Astra 2F. Notice also that some of the
transponders they have switched to Astra 1N are impossible to use on Astra 2F. <<< interesting comment

Right, the info at onastra.co.uk is from LyngSat, and the info from LyngSat
regarding what satellite each transponder is on is coming directly from SES.
That’s why the info at LyngSat and onastra.co.uk is correct and identical.

They have switched transponders from Astra 2B to three different beams:
· Astra 1N: Pan Europe 1
· Astra 2A: Northern Europe
· Astra 2A: Southern Europe

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore use Lyngsat as the definitive list of transponders/satellites. The information on onastra.co.uk is also correct although does not identify the actual beams only the satellite.

Info is from Christian Lyngemark at Lyngsat.
Thank you for this information. Huge sighes of relief here in the Canary Islands.

It makes sense.
Astra 1N has 40 BSS transponders, so can fill the whole range 11700...12500 MHz
Astra 2F has 28 BSS transponders. Question is still: which ones exactly?

Edit: went through Huevos' big list of the reported frequencies in the test position.
With this Astra 2F would probably have:
12188H...12480V (16 tp)
11778V...11876H (6 tp)
Still 6 tp to put somewhere...

Don't count your chickens - we still have zero knowledge of why 2F is not being loaded. That's a hell of a waste of a valuable asset.

Will Astra 2F turn into the new 2C? Just use a couple of transponders at 28.2E but leave the majority empty...

Guess that is back-up.
Actually for BSS backup, Astra 2C (11720H...12168V only) and 2F (12188H...12480V probably) could be a complementary pair.

Upcoming Astra 2E will have the whole BSS range.

Or not in the case of the old 2D band once 1N leaves 28E and only 2E can handle it. I guess I'm just a little surprised how inflexible 2F is turning out given I thought these new generation of satellites could switch transponders and beams as and when needed.

But I'm sure there is a good reason for it seeing as I know nothing about building and running satellites. ;)

Maybe Astra 2A is off somewhere else and it's current transponders (including the shifted 2B ones) are going on to 2F? It does all seem rather odd as to why 2F isn't being illuminated apart from only a handful of transponders?

I seem to remember 2A was supposed to go to 31.5E at one point, but plans might have since changed or I've remembered wrong.

I just saw on my epg that more sky channels are changing in the coming days . mutv says it will change in the epg info and according to a press release i found there are more channell changes supposed to happen today. I cant tell anything more from the press release other than to expect changes. The press release also referred to changes already made on the 25th of Jan. Some press quotes of the press release also refer to changes again on the 4th of Feb.

The epg changes will be numerical changes on the epg only - Sky tidying up the gaps etc.

I would have thought the same myself and only bother to mention it on the forum as some of the references found on the web mention for example FI HD epg change which also as i recall involved a TP change. As you say there is no specific statement of a TP change. h--p://skyguide.sky.com/uk/skyguide.html This pr concerns movment of all HD channels. The PR describes it as one of the " biggest changes in a decade" . As i said thought it was worth a mention.

Perhaps i though , missunderstand the implication and moving channell number doesnt actually involve a frequency change ?

Could not find topic for astra 2g and specially for pan european beam. Is there any information what channels will be in astra 2g on uk spot beam and in pan european beam.
