Hi,

Apologies if this is a flippant question. I've just added 12169V to my transponder list for the above sat and managed to capture all channels, including the HD sports one. However I'm getting slight breakup. My receiver positions Badr4 at 26.2°E and Lyngsat and Flysat list it at 26°E. Which is correct, or is it neither?

Pete

It is at 26E according to Arabsat

_http://www.arabsat.com/Pages/BADR4.aspx

Though, not that it really matters with a motorised dish, as you may find it beneficial to do a bit of tweaking by adjusting the position using the receiver for best signal.

Ay. Not sure how the relative footprints vary in Northern France as compared to UK, but it is often necessary to align slightly to the West of the nominal 26.0E (eg summat like 25.6E) in order to rebut the unwelcome advances of swamping from 28E.

A chap of your calibre will do it empirically, of course, (as advised by Robbo) to get best overall result

Hmm,

Is Robbo's advice so good he had to post it twice?? Anyway, I'll alter it to 26° and see what happens. Then decrease by small steps towards 25° till I've b***ered it up completely. I'l let you know the results. The anticipation of watching camel racing in HD is almost too much to bear :-rofl2

Well I have improved it so there is no break up. However my azimuth is off a little as I've got a better result by altering the satellite position to 26.4°E. But as I've just managed to get back most of my Nilesat horizontals and keep reception of 57°E as well, I'm loathe to go tinkering again. Thanks anyway guys.

Sadly no camel racing, just a toothsome female Russian tennis player. Now that can't be too bad can it?

Yes, give it a go, as I would have thought that on a 1M gibby you wouldn't have too much of a problem picking up badr4. Strong enough with some rain fade margin here on the TD110.

Have you considered watching Dubai Racing? I've stumbled across it a few times...and I definitely remember that they were keen on broadcasting such events.

Hi,

Yes thanks, I have seen it on Dubai Racing. Watching it is not a priority though!! I think you've misunderstood my own quirky, ironical sense of humour. Thanks for your input anyway.

No sorry, I dislike horse racing with a passion. So I don't think I'll become a follower of the turf (or sand in this case). To each his/her own though

We are also able to get the MBC beam which is quite difficult to get on 3.6 meter = 12 feet dish, the signal comes in Evening and goes off during the day.
