BBC and ITV in Malta?

hello,
if you are not getting the bbc with a 1.6 in malta then here is what may be wrong.
the dish is not 100% aligned or the skeu of the lnb is off.
this is the lnb twisted in the holder or offset the angle the satellite is in space at the 28 degree possion.
stronger channels it will not affect the weeker ones it will.

thanks i will try and adjust the lnb first - but it looks like its in the right place about -10 degs anticlockwise as seen looking at the arm from behind the dish - i assume the markings onthe lnb cover are in 10 degree increments.....

Nevrer assume anything in the satellite hobby - one set of lnb's was issued a while back with the internall skew set near 45 degrees!

hello to all in malta,
good way is to go to a week channel that is comming in but braking up a bit.
rotate the lnb few degrees at a time .each move you make it will show up by a small delay on the box.
the delay may be 1 to 3 seconds behind.as stto as it looks good and is not broken up it should be ok.
check the alignment the same way.
if you can look at the signal strength and quality while you are doing this its better.
it may take 2 people one to do the dish moving, one to watch the signal quality.

Well we have been getting the ITVs & BBCs down here in Malta since the shutting down of 2D and having 1N operational.
With a well aligned 1.2 Dish plus a good brand Lnb (preferably 0.1 D one can get almost all the channels in a normal day.

I have attached some screen shots of the various channels with a 1.2 Dish. When I use the 1.5 m I can practically have them without any freezing/breakingup 24/7.
But I have to emphise again that the whole setup must be well aligned starting from the Pole being really plumb rightdown to the ability of having the Dish tracking the Satellite Ark correctly otherwise it will be no go.

thanks zorbua - where roughly in malta are you ..we get all of the itv regional programmes but it does suffer freezing and gradually reducing signals as the day goes on.....HD stutters al the time....and we get itv 2 3 4 all HD but occasionally get itv1 HD.....so i think the dish and lnb need retuning...i have a pingulux plus at the moment with signals of between 60-100 and quality of 40-100......

I am nearly down South (Fgura)....i have a Dreambox 800se with a 1.2 and a dreambox 8000HD with a 1.5 Dish....signals with dreamboxes are in the order 30> 48/50 Snr....but they do differ from one receiver to another....What you really need is a lock on the channel. But I am sure that with a 1.6 m Dish you can have the world down here provided you have it well aligned..... and one thing you have to take in consideration....the bigger they are the more time you need to set them right because the field of play will be very small indeed.

I live in Mellieha and have just retuned my dish and now get all the fives, ch4 hd e4 most of the itv regions s4c and stv and in hd....RTE one an two and also get bbc one hd too...but with a 1.5m dish and 0.1db LNB.....
