Sunshine and occasional very heavy downpours with squally winds since the early hours. The line of rain in the Channel is quite prominent on the radar and the static it's producing is putting paid to any radio listening this morning, just started again as I type.

Just keep it on your side of the Channel LOL. A better day here, windy but with some blue skies. Definitely a bit chilly though...

Not raining, but very windy here, so I've chanced my luck and spent the morning swopping my actuator from the right hand side of the SMW polar mount to the left side, as I hope it gives me a better arc range to the east, to access 52.5/53E without the chance of the Gibby dumping. The SMW mount is intended to work with the SMW dish, so I have had to do some modifications re the actuator mount point and piston bearing position on the Gibby, which didn't really allow a good arc range on the right hand side before.

Luckily the dish held in position while work was in progress; I simply had to firmly tighten the polar mount pivot bolts enough for it to stay put.Testing to be done shortly.

Very little rain here, although a friend texted to say it was hosing it down in Jedburgh 15 miles away. Loads of small branches down along the roads.

Some nice footage from Aberdeen here

Well ..fwiw ..still raining here ...
Now well into the second full day of continuous ..relentless rain ...
It just never stops ..
started Sunday evening ..and still going strong.
I'm gobsmacked there is so much water above us ....
most likely being constantly refueled as the wind passes over the sea..
The wettest March
The Wettest April ....May ...June...July...August...and now September I can ever remember.
cest la vie.

...reminds me very much of Bladerunner ...
Ridley scott must have been a prophet...

Certainly is relentless, drove back from Cleveleys earlier, all the usual fields were just lakes, even the golf course was a lake, the road was a lake the motorway was a lake....come on we are not that near the Lake District. Could not avoid drowning some poor sod delivering newspapers though poor beggarO-zzz

And with summer officially over, the houseguests that spent time relaxing in the sunshine are now retiring

For perspective, the microwave panel is about 9 inches in height, and the wall is just over five inches away from the oven edge. This one could do pressups on the top of a pint jug.

Yeah, we have a few of them spiders in this house, and have had them in past houses too, it's when they use you as a public right of way that they become an issue for me.....

Would that be a Panasonic Microwave by any chance? I miss my Panasonic, was much better than the one we had back in lancashire, and I'm not overly keen on the current Samsung one, I don't like not-very-accurate rotary knob timers on nukerowaves.... O-no

Yes, not too bad at all.

SWMBO had to go a circuitous route to avoid the still closed northbound bit of the A1, but my trip along the lanes into town was uneventful.

I am off to Maaaanchester town (well, Bolton) on Saturday! Maybe I'll nick one of VS's dishes on the way back...... Although I'd need a crane for one of them.

We have friends who own a Finca near the Almeria/Murcia border and SWMBO spoke to them earlier - the entire area is awash with mud, sand and silt and all the stabilising vegetation (Cactus etc.) has been uprooted.

Well, if anyone's hoping for an indian summer, I suggest they go to India... O-Ha

Definitely ain't warm out there today, barely double digits round these parts at least, I would say that summer is well and truly gone and Autumn is in, with winter approaching faster than normal.... :-nuts

Maybe even new forum, new thread perhaps? O-Ha

Obviously the farmer who rents the fields next to me, was well informed about the weather today. He began harvesting the maize at first light (just after 7am), finished later this morning, just before it began to rain. Since then it's been steady rain and pretty miserable......

Clear skies, warm sun here. A perfect Autumn day. Been blackberrying on the common - poor crop this year, only enough for one pie.

Well, today has been the third day in a row where it has been freezing, so, time for the autumn & winter thread now perhaps? O-Ha
