I believe william-1 is spot on. I started of off with a Technomate about 12 years ago. Great stuff but then read that Dreambox was the best thing in receivers. I just had to have one and it was good. Since then I have had Gigablu and VU+ and all good. BUT I have since realised I was spending hours getting frustrated with so many settings, some I could never fathom out what the hell they did. It became an obsession to master all the complexities of open source and I often ended up frustrated, irritated and disappointed. I packed the whole lot away whilst I worked on house extensions and since returning to it all decided I simply wanted a receiver that did most things without me having to worry about cams, soft cams, clines etc. I did not want to sit there and watch an arrow circling around a dish whilst it sorted itself out. How many times I muttered is this thing going to ask me to send in a log. Nightly builds, updates! Therefore I will get a cheap TM for now as I think some new receivers will be here in the autumn. If I think I want to play with open source I can get a cheap basic box from Ebay. Many thanks to william-1 and for his regular Just Sharing This Strongest Transponders.
