Gibertini 1.25m motorised dish driven by the AD3000, with either Inverto BU Quad or Norsat / XMW Ka LNBs . SMW 1.05m + 3 other dishes. Speccy: Promax HD Ranger+

My Triple Dragon Linux receiver gives a good account of itself with its spectrum analyser plugin. Finds anything DVB-flavoured.

Just need a calculator handy to convert IF to Ku :-rofl2

...Not bad Llew ..I have to say..
I've seen far worse receiver/scanalyser displays.
I suppose the only real problem is distinguishing the actual peakes of the scanned transponders ..particularly when closely packed on the louder ..more active birds..
I can only assume the lack of rapid falloff (transponder seperation) is down to the agc capabilities of the specific receiver/tuner combination.

ps ..just out of curiosity ...which 'bird' are we looking at ?

so when youve found the freq how do you find the channels sr to allow you to receive the channel or do you have to input that freq into a blindscan receiver

I heard the basic design for the type of receiver you're describing was dropped as it proved to be un-sucksessful in initial tests.
doh !

Hispasat, VS (says on the screenshot). That one's pretty packed out TP wise. It reads down to a few Hz. but as you say it needs to be right on the peak of the TP. I just make sure the dBuV reading is at max.

I'll try some feeds on 10E or whatever when I next do some hunting and see what it can show.

Good question. Normally, I would use a Fortec 5100 Ultra for blind scanning the frequency. Slow, but does the job.

If it comes up but blank video on the Fortec, it's probably a 4:2:2 feed, which I can then try on my HD PCI card. If it's an HD carrier, I don't have the required parameters to check unfortunately.

so theres no way of finding out the sr from the spectrum.you still need a blind scan receiver then

Mine was taken a few months ago (just dredged it from my files, don't have the TD on ATM) but I think most of the TP's are as was.
