The results below were taken this afternoon within 30 minutes of each other. I've tried to concentrate on fringe transponders to test the ability of the Octagon. The Octagon was adjusted and checked with my meter. (On the Laminas it peaked out roughly at mid point on the LNB neck)

Black Ultra Octagon
7°W
12055 H No lock No lock
12226 H 7.3dB 6.1dB
11976 V No lock No lock

4°W
11570 H No lock No lock
10805 H 9.2dB 8.6dB

53°E
12642V 6.6dB 6.4dB
11005H 8.3dB 8.5dB
12717H 7.4dB 7.0dB
12633H 2.5dB (no lock) 0.3dB

Although the Octagon seems to perform well it seems to fall just below the Black Ultra by comparison. I'll check again tonight and may swap the Octagon onto a couple of my fixed dishes in the multi sat set up in the next couple of days

No Martin, I don't use twin LNB's, mainly because I'm not interested in recording anything. Out of curiosity I have tested a twin Black Ultra before and found it was no different to the single. I got the twin Octagon because it had the longest neck to allow for adjustment.

Thanks for that test. I guess there would be more demand for the single Octagon LNB due to the narrow feedhorn otherwise the Black Ultra trumps it.
