Well officially its Sping but I wouldnt put the barbies in the garden just yet - the unseasonably late Storm Kathleen is barelling in towards Ireland & the western UK to batter us with 50mph winds.

Kathleen is shown nicely on this NOAA19 APT image I captured this morning (4/4/24 1107utc) out south west of the uk

A huge storm in the early hours of this morning , with thunder and lighting directly overhead. It woke up the PC and iPhone in the bedroom.

A fireball was apparently seen in the road of the next street.

My BT Hub was bricked, probably due to a surge in the overhead phone line (luckily I still had the old Hub). Replacement on the way -fast work for BT.

I've also lost most of the VRS aircraft feeds from the antenna and shed preamp, so that might be shot as well.

So much for this being the BBQ thread - when Storm Kathleen barrelled through the western UK last weekend a family in a motohome up in northwestern Scotland had their vehicle blown off the layby it was parked in - and they were inside it at the time!

We have been down in ALston for a week & the weather was awful. Gale force winds every day, & heavy rain most days. One day had flooded roads everywhere.. :(

Just read the hire companys terms and conditions, it appears the family may be liable for the price of a new motorhome if it can be proved they were negligent parking in a hillside layby in a gale

We had a taste of spring over the weekend but it's business as usual now. Strong winds and heavy rains once more.

I only remember 1 day, last Friday, when it hasn't rained.
We've had storms, including thunder/lightning, and strong winds.
The temperature has been mild, even the hedgehog was out early, but I can understand people going abroad, for their holidays, to find some sun.
Although, judging by the County Cricket, being played, there appears to be better weather in the South, as usual.

For many weeks now I have been considering planting some rice where my lawn was wearing waders however, the latest upturn in weather has meant I can actually make my way to the far fence without slipping on my arse:-bighappy

Just checked mine, and there's still too much water, to get anything done.
I can't even get rid of the weeds, especially the dandelions.
I estimate a week of hot, sunny, dry weather should allow me to get some work done, but if it rains again then it might take a couple of months.

Last night's storm was quite spectacular, the odd flash is still occurring.
