So before Microsofts announcement that the Xbox One "X" was not intended as a successor to the original "One" merely a stop gap between that and the now announced successor (Xbox one 2?? Lol) I had been looking at the One X. The death of Tesco Direct there had been the opportunity to pick one up for just £367.99p as part of the stock clearance sale (Retail game free is £400-410 last time I checked) luckily I never pulled the trigger as that would have p#"sed me right off!! I decided that I am done with the Xbox ecosystem and it's time to build a PC rig on a cheapo budget, buy still play modern games! I am going to use the Dell Optiplex series as the base unit from a stock reseller as for £85 for a Gen 2 Intel Core i5, 500Gb mechanical drive, DVD RW drive and Windows 10 OEM key install this will leave me plenty of cash from my self imposed £368 budget. So I ordered the Optiplex 390 with 4 Gig RAM (DDR 3 obviously because of model time frame) turned up today (Next day delivery can't complain there), wrong model, sent the Optiplex 1030, which has the 3rd generation of the Core i5....... Popped the access side panel, One stick of 4 Gig RAM as payed for and the drive is a WD 500 gig also, I reckon I'll keep as the processor is the slightly faster version of the Sandy Lake (Bloody daft Intel names). What I will be doing over the coming weeks is expanding the RAM, apparently as long as the BIOS is updated you can stick 2x8Gig in these, despite Dells documentation says 8 gig max (2x4). The good thing is DDR3 is cheap as chips compared to the newer stuff.

I've got a Wii thing here with a library of games , all very well and it works without trouble. Most were picked by other family members, including all the Skylander stuff ( and some Disney characters for another game.)

Problem is sprog has been asking for a Nintendo DS3 thingy as of late (just for one game that she saw on YouTube).

I've been looking for an emulator ......

I have access to a PS4, virtually unlimited broadband at work and a set of VR goggles with a quality Samsung mobile in the holster, plus the pistol grip.

She's still not happy.

Tsk. When we were children, we'd have preferred to play with the cardboard box.

Well it looks like a GTX 1060 Ti is the top end of what I can afford given my budget, with a 6Gig VRAM model being the preferred one, comes in about the £250 mark

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

I've been wanting to upgrade the graphics card in my PC, I presently have an EVGA GeForce GTX750Ti, but the prices of graphics cards these days thanks to cryptocurrency miners, it's insane, really puts me off wanting to do anything gaming-wise... :(

I know, they are complete fuds, in saying that Nvidia's announcement was bland as f#*k so not going to see the second hand market get a massive injection.

I would imagine an SSD would boost performance immensely, I know mine has.

SSDs are a good boost for loading games & the data during gaming, but a decent graphics card is needed for a good experience with a decent rate of FPS... :)

I have seen several 2nd hand GTX 980 Ti cards go for £200 - £210 recently. They are a powerful card but I am not a gamer so would not know if they have the power you need for your new rig? If a second hand GTX 980 Ti is an option, some of the EVGA versions might still have the original manufacturers warranty. They gave an additional three years warranty free of charge over and above the standard two years if the purchaser registered the card and activated the additional warranty.

Might be worth getting on the ebuyer.com daily offers email - sometimes they have very cheap cards available there.

@Analoguesat and others.
One needs to run one of the W10 "antispyware" tools every time it updates :-doh

Been using O&O "Shutup10" - but I'm sure there are other "reliable" tools, and so, to "A.N.O.", please report those that seems to work for "you".

No Channel Hopper mate I've been doing some comparisons via having the same titles on both P.C. and Xbox One.
