Hi,

is there a way to determine what was causing a picture freeze / glitch, whether it was because of 'just' bad reception or if the decrypting didn't work (using DM7020 / DM8000)?

On a c/s its very common to get picture freezes when the keys change if theres a slow link in the chain somewhere. BTW - please fill your location in correctly in your profile - it helps for reception related queries.

You still havnt defined what channels, encryption, local card, hop 1 hop2???? If you dont give enough information then why do you expect people to help???????

Anway from the poor information you have given I will try and guess that the freezing in question is the NDS UK channels on 28East.

NDS has a very demanding time when it comes to ecm decoding. anything above 0.6 secnds and you will see freezing. these factors will help:-

1) Overclocked card
2) c/s card no more than hop1
3) Good internet condtions.
4) Good router

As for 19 east...I cant help you there because there are numerous packages with different encryptions

The reason I didn't give this information is that it shouldn't be necessary. I know about all the reasons causing freezes / glitches. What I want to find out is if one can distinguish a glitch caused by bad reception (no matter where you are you always have a bird sitting on your dish when it's inconvenient) or by ANY kind of decryption issue.

every single day I am seeing a half a second glitch on these channels at exactly 6PM (ITV1 Central West - not ITV1 London) on transponder 10758 V.

Has anyone noticed this as well or is this maybe some kind of interference from something in my neighborhood?

All the other channels / transponders seem to be OK...

Sounds like local interference - something on a timer kicking in maybe

But what? Certainly nothing of mine and why only those few channels (not that I am complaining ;) ).

And it's at 6PM to the second, 7 days a week.

Are there any devices / sensors that might help me figure this out?

Have not a clue where you are in the UK, na is not very helpful but if hilly an automatic sewer pump could be kickin in to pump the waste to the top of the hill. A largish electric motor such as that when it kicks in draws approximately 4 times its rated amperage for a very short period of time which if not screened correctly will swamp loads of surrounding signals momentarily

I am sure it is somthing like that since I couldn't image those channels having a problem like this for so many weeks / months...

I basically posted this to make sure that it isn't something related to the satellite.

Probably the network switching over to the local news, losing sync.

Although that would only affect ITV1 I would think.
