I went to 16e. Favorit and TVR Cluj bought in the New Year in in traditional dress and with beer. Recorded TVRi hoping for fireworks again but sadly nothing. Last year the wad from a firework hit the presenter live on air, though it didn't hurt her. It was a good display last year.

So I guess it didn't hurt much that I forgot to put the receiver on record LOL! But yeah, Happy New Year and thanks for your company. I will be sticking around at least for British midnight and then to wake up for U.S midnight

It does appear the world record thing on Das Erste was just some kind of a joke... Interestingly it appears to be broadcast in various countries... ORF2 is also airing Silvesterstadl, which is the same one that is on Das Erste. In fact, I did notice cameras had ORF logo on it.

Just flicked to WDR too. I will be taking the midnight from its Cologne station... since my favorite radio station is in Cologne

T. Tanilsoo - Das Erste/ORF and SF (Swiss public german speaking broadcaster) very often is broadcasting these kind events together, sometimes even on weekends.

The best German regional broadcasts are the fireworks at Kölner Dom (Cologne) on WDR or NDR at Hamburger Hafen.

Yeah, because its made by ORF - it is aired from Graz/Austria. It's a Eurovision programme.

Fireworks all over Cologne on WDR Köln... although the weather doesn't seem to be cooperating there. Interesting to see how the fireworks apparently messes with video links as occasionally some minor pixelation is occurs(not very often, only upon closer observation). I guess the fireworks is messing with microwave links.

Was also listening to Radio Köln from Cologne ring in the New Year, and the stream stopped exactly at the stroke of midnight when a recorded signature said "Welcome to 2012". Had to reload... so missed the transition to the first song of the year. I guess they changed servers or something...

WDR Köln has even a teletext page at 889 depicting the Cologne Dome Church and a Happy New Year message.
