Probably blocked towards Crystal Palace and Bluebell Hill (Kent) by the hill (if she's on the north east side). Sudbury may be best on that side of the town but its a fair distance. There's a fill in at Burnham on Crouch but that's probably not much help. Not enough detail in report really.
No idea if anything changed in 2016 unless they wanted a different region or 4g??

They are completely re-engineering Emley Moor soon, meaning a temporary mast will be installed along side the concrete tower while the work takes place...

So, they're saying that it was an exceptional repair that had to be done and that they're reclaiming the payment in one year? That means that they'll be lowering the price next year then! Yeah, right.

Its a communal aerial so there may have been work on the distribution system maybe?

Having been a leaseholder in a block of housing association (run down ex council) flats, I can empathise with this ladies position. However, it's sadly a normal practice to charge all leaseholders an equal share of the buildings running costs in service charges. In my experience these are unnaturally overcharged with very little the leaseholder can do to complain. It does appear from the article that the service charge included other works not related to the aerial. For example, the cost of painting exterior windows would be divided equally among the leaseholders, regardless of the size of their flat...

We must be very lucky then our council installed a communal UHF aerial system 4 years ago & it costs us nothing so I took down my high gain aerial as the new system aimed at Sandy Heath was much better,

That is taking the proverbial in Stella's case as there is no maintenance involved unless they get a lightning strike or rats eating the cable.

Agreed, however housing associations do like the idea of 'planned maintenance' (I.E. an annual check up or service) and what you're talking about (quite rightly) is attending for a breakdown. I know there would be very little to do should the system be operating correctly, but HA's have little regard as to how they efficiently spend their tenants money...(apart from executive salaries). Apologies if this is boring, but I was secretary of our residents association for quite a few years and bear the battle scars....

I once installed a couple of additional TV points for a customer in an apartment and was given recommendation by them to the 'management' which got me a contract to upgrade the aerial mast on the roof and a couple of other jobs, including the addition of twin satellite - SMATV - to the block (24 users).

I duly installed everything and was paid for the final invoice, which included a maintenance one off charge for returning to check all was well in 12 months provide a comparison signal report for their records and advise on any further additions that might be required (DAB etc) based on resident feedback.

Fast forward 12 months and I return, all looks fine, signals play out and I send the report with another bill for the following year assessment, which is paid

When I booked access 12 months later I was advised another company had offered a free estimate for assessment of the equipment a month before, a company recommended by the initial apartment owner. They were offering Sky +/Sky HD for the block. This required - in their correspondence - a complete replacement of the kit I had fitted.

I made the decision then that it would be better to 'retain' the return surcharge I had billed the association earlier, as the administration incurred looking through their recommendations, correcting and picking myself/my jaw off the floor was better than arguing.

In the last year I've discovered the residents have been paying an annual £270 per apartment fee via the association, plus individual callouts when things - regularly - go belly up.
I have no idea what is installed upstairs since there are new locks in the service/access rooms, but it obviously is making somebody rich.

I'm in the wrong job.

The other things Housing Associations charge tenants for are washing lines & caretaker maintenance that never actually happens :-rofl2

Before this goes completely OT, I'll make this my last post.... Our caretaker was brilliant and regularly unblocked the refuse chutes without much complaint. We often took the HA to task about the quoted costs for remedial work and 'improvements'. I was one of three leaseholders in the block (of about 20 residents in total) so the service charges and additional one off payments were not only exhorbitant but not up for much discussion or negotiation. Whether or not some cash ended up in brown envelopes was often hinted at by residents but of course flatly denied. In the end I gave up and managed to persuade the HA to purchase the lease back and I went back to renting...
