I am using C line on my Dreambox 500s but I got myself an original IRDETO smart card for ART on Nilesat. This is what I did:-
1. I removed the C line with DCC.
2. I put in the original smart card.
3. NOTHING on my screen; I mean the encrypted channels do NOT open!

Do I have to make any changes in the setup? My current settings are:-
Software setup :
Channel= Default
Provider=Default
Default Softcam= CCcam-2.1.4
Cardserver=cardserver
XAuto reconnect cahandler(Checked)

Somebody suggested that I add the following two lines to Cccam.cfg.
CAMKEY : /dev/sci0
TRY ALL CHIDS : /dev/sci0

Not knowing why I was supposed to do it, I did the following anyway:-
1. Copy pasted those two lines in my var>etc> cccam.cfg
2. Cardserver=None
3. Saved the settings and restarted
4. RESULT: Now , when I press the card info (MENU>SETUP>SOFTCAM SETUP>CARD INFO),that is the yellow key, I DO GET the detailed card info like my card number and many explanatory lines like IRDETO etc. Also by pressing INFO on the channel the GREEN LIGHT under I (irdeto) comes on!
5. PROBLEM: Nothing on the screen , no channel opens !!

The original IRDETO smart card for ART package (Nilesat) works fine with my Vivax 505, so the card is definitely OK, right? Now, what do I do to my DM500s to make it work with this card?!
I did read the tutorial about running sky card on DM500. The article started pretty good and easy to follow, till there was a sudden jump from amateur reader to expert reader & I lost it! :( Could someone spare a few minutes to guide me plz?
Thanx

Perhaps Irdeto cards do not work with CCcam. Have you thought of trying a different cam like NewsCS or MGcam.

Thanx for the suggestion, many C/sharing guys use CCcam and share their Irdeto cards using DB500s. Anyway, I will still try what you suggested and update the forum about it. Thanx again

If you know that "many C/sharing guys use CCcam and share their Irdeto cards using DB500s" why don't you try to contact them and ask them what is required to get their Irdeto cards to work?

:) Thanx for the suggestion, but I already tried that (mentioned above); I guess the idea didn't work! I'll now change my image from Pli-Jade to Gemini and see what happens. Will update the forum about it.

I would try using NewCS first to see if that works. It may also be worth taking into consideration on a lot of clone DM500 boxes the card readers don't work on them.

If you've just bought your DM500 its unlikely to be a genuine one as they stopped making them years ago.
