I have been receiving reminders that my Dropbox on the company laptop has been getting rather full as of late and I should take advantage of a 1GB upgrade

I haven't used Dropbox for about a year, so are these reminders just advertising (they appear on the desktop where the AVG spam appears), or is somebody using my Dropbox without my knowledge ?

I don't want to open it just in case there is something in there as I haven't got a decent AV on the lappy atm.

When Dropbox gets full it sends you a message to say you need to upgrade (pay) for more storage or remove some of the files.

The free account has 5gb's of storage don't know how much the premium service is.

Google drive has 15gb's of free storage or pay a one of £19.99 for a 100gb's the £19.99 auto renew's yearly.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
FWIW, I think you get another free (at least) 1/2Gb just for signing someone else up, and, AFAIK, you can do that as many times as you want after you send each of them an invitation and they then open an account (did that with my wife). Might also work if you send yourself an invitation to another email address that you have.

OTOH, in your case, might be worth signing up for a new Dropbox a/c via that other address and then deleting the original account (don't know how you do that as I have never tried) when you have adequate AV s/w installed on the laptop, or via another machine which already has it.

OTOH 2: Why is there no decent AV s/w already on your lappie? - sounds "dangerous" in the extreme:eek:

I pay, I think, £7.99 a month for 1TB of Dropbox storage, which I think is good value.

There is a secure USB stick installed that has a software suite from a partner business I use. All of the AV solutions tried so far throw up a wobbly and delete the operation, meaning I have to reinstall each time (with a revised licence and the associated calls back and forth)

The office lappy doesn't get used that often, I am mostly on a desktop or iPod these days.
