Its fine for what it is: The equivalent in many ways of the Silvercrest packages often sold by Lidl.

Let's face it, its almost worth it for the Receiver alone, even thought the Dish is small.

Depends upon your interests: As an introduction to multi-sat, you'll get Astra 2, Astra 1, Hotbird, Atlantic Bird 3 and a few others.

But when you get fed up of re-aligning the Dish every time you change Satellite, you might decide to get a bigger one with multi-LNB arm, or a Motor :)

Just read your profile and noticed you're already Satsavvy:

I'd say the Aldi kit was a newbie product - a bit retrogressive for someone who already has a multi-Sat system.

If that's a 45cm dish then the receiver must be pretty big. O-no

I saw this advertised, and thought I would post for those who were looking for an entry level system. I started with the equivilent Silvercrest SL65 system.

Surprised that there was no mention of its pending sale this weekend, posted this for comments.

Despite the weight, even I would never lose a Remote control of that size :)

The good thing about Aldi, certainly here in the UK is their return/refund policy. Buy it, try it, Take it back if you don't like it.

Doesn't matter much either way as there is very little available by "other means" now.

in Germany ,there is a law, that a advertising offer must be avalible enough for all in the store,in the first day of purchase,if not aldi has to pay fine
yes the return policy is very good!
the other shops dont have it like _cosmos.at
or mediamarkt!
here in austria ,you have more rights, when you order something from the net,you can order, test it and send it back, and the dealer, have also payed for the postage!
best return policy of all has amazon within 30 days! you can send back everything expect open software cds!

I don't know whether you can or not - but there is so very little available now that it hardly seems worth the effort: What are you wanting to receive?

There aren't patches for all Comag/Silvercrest receivers, so even if it is a rebadged version of either of these, it is unlikely that there will be a patch available. Also bear in mind that there is very little available by software patch and that which is, may not be available for very long.

Just brought on of these packages for my mum’s house, I could not resist cracking the top of the receiver. The marking on the chip don’t match any of the sl35/65 I know of.

Gosh, that's a big enclosure for such small boards: Heat dissipation, or an attempt to disguise its provenance?

I have just found these threads about the Aldi satellite set which they sold some time ago for £79.99. I have concluded that I need such a set up to always get good TV in my caravan when it is raining. Aparently Aldi still have some of these kicking around and I have looked into getting one, as a satisfied owner on a site in Wales recommended it. However, Aldi are promising another special this Sunday for £49.99. The pictures don't look the same and it is not described as being HD. Also, I would like to be able to get UK programmes in Europe when we go there. I know absolutely nothing about satellite TV and its requirements so would welcome any advice, but please spare me the jargon if you can.

The recent Aldi offer from a couple of months ago was an HD receiver, dish etc. Noticed in one of our local branches at weekend a sign saying reduced to £69.99 but it wasn't obvious if they had any

So, I have bought the £49.99 Aldi kit. I think I have the dish pointing in the right direction, with the right elevation. The polarisation of the LNB has me a bit confused as the graduations on it are a bit meaningless without some numbers on them. I can get mid 70s signal strength on all satelite options, but the "quality" is always zero. What is this "quality" and how can I improve it - if at all? Consequently I can't get a picture. Mind you, the instrucrions for seting up the receiver are about as much use as a chocolate teapot for an old git like me who doesn't understand the techie jargon. Why is it that these instructions are always written by someone who understands the system in the first place. Do I need to concentrate on one satelite or all of them. Much more of this and it goes back and I read a book instead!!!
