It will only normally list one Astra satellite and include all frequencies, if there are missing frequencies, they are quite easy to add. Should certainly be good enough to align on.

If you can definitely establish a lock on 19.2E, then find it, make yourself a 9 degree template and use that to set the approximate azimuth, then drop the dish elevation by a couple of degrees.

we've put the reciever on astra 2a (you're right, the astra 2d transponders are already pre-programmed in there) and set the dish as you suggested. Some of the transponders are giving us good strength and quality on the signal meter but others nothing at all. We have managed to tune in quite a few channels from the transponders with a signal but they are mostly in german, polish, etc and no english chanels at all. any more ideas?!

You are still on the wrong satellite Polish and German channels are on both Astra 19.2 and Hotbird 13 East, but not on Astra 28.2 East. So you still need to move the dish Eastwards and downwards.

thing is, we can only pick up a few of the hotbird transponders as well. there isnt a satellite in the list where we can tune in to all the transponders..

The satellites all use the same frequency band so if you scan one particular satellite whilst pointing at another you will scan some channels where the frequency parameters coincide.

Its easy to get confused, but you will know when you find 28E - theres loads of slapper on a sofa channels broadcasting in English!

another good piece of advice we were given to help locate the astra 2 satellite was:

Azimuth- Very roughly, the satellite is in the same direction as the sun at around 11 o'clock in winter time or noon in the summer time
