I have just dug out my old HD Star DVB-S2 USB receiver to find that it and it's power supply have got separated.
The unit is not marked with the required voltage. I have PSU's of 5/9/12volts that fit the power socket.
Does anyone know what it should be please?

Likely 12v is what it needs. It doesn't really matter if needs 9v instead as it'll have a voltage regulator to take care of it. You also need to guess polarity but assume that the centre pin is positive.

One thing I've found in the past is that receivers need beefy PSUs, especially if driving a motor. A 500mA PSU won't cut it. Old Dreamboxes needed a 3A rated PSU. Even a 2A one wouldn't work reliably - it just randomly rebooted.
