i have looked around a bit and cant seem to get a definite answer as i would go for a hd2000 if it is capable of showing 422 feeds. also see reports of technomate bringing out a hd model in september. any news on the above would be appreciated.

No 422 support, and I doubt the technomate will either, remeber these are consumer boxes.

The Quali-TV receiver does HD and 4:2:2...

... or did you mean a decent box? :-rofl2

Ooops, sorry to all the (both of the) QualiTV receiver owners out there ;)

I guess you're having the last laugh though...

thanks for replys, i would probably be better off getting a pc card toget the422 feeds and hold off on the hd receiver for the moment until i see what happens. the site listed above charges over $600 for this receiver, i have seen it on a german site for €359. also it does not have a ci slot, the one with the ci slot is €549. any idea of the best pc card to buy and where to get it? i have a 1.7ghz pc what are the chances of good quality hd reception with a pc card in soft mode on a pc this slow? thanks for all the help.

I wasn't suggesting you buy one from there, just pointing you at the first spec I could find on the net :)

It's the only domestic STB that I know of that does both 4:2:2 and mpeg4.

It looks like a toaster though :-rofl2

Maybe you could put one in a cardboard box and puch some ventilation holes?

OMG! You're completely correct!
Man, I'm EVEN MORE GLAD I bought a packet of Corn-Flakes instead :-rofl2

I've heard so many grumbles about this box. I seem to remember that there was a firmware upgrade to do something useful, but I can't remember what. Perhaps it added bagel-toasting capability :p

not so bad after all...

works perfectly for 4:2:2, upscaling function via DVI gets a brilliant video quality (much much better than RGB or component), mpeg2 HDTV is fantastic (on a proper TV), works perfectly with 2 CAM and 2 cards inserted + EURO 1080 card in the slot

last firm 3.16 fixed some bugs, some other are still there but nothing really important

the only real and serious problem is the lack of mpeg4, that makes it an out-of-market receiver

Oh, I'm being very harsh really :-ohmy

At least they've fixed some bugs, and it was pretty innovative.

Have you managed to see any of the other mpeg2 HD promos on other satellites?

I watched mpeg2 HD channels (HD1, HD2, Pro7 when it was in mpeg2) and promos (BBC included, when it was in mpeg2...) on every satellite receivable in Europe, included many HD feeds (Champions League final, World Cup final, Bundesliga, some Winter Olympic Games events, Opera, and some more...) and it works perfectly...;) it really only misses mpeg4 and dvb-s2 :-ohmy

Do you have any links to any of these reports?

Find it a bit odd that there are only two commericaly available (and much overpriced) HD boxes out there (not including SKY's own) the Pace 810 and Humax 1000/2000?

To my knowledge the sale of HD ready LCD's has rocketed over the last few months all over Europe as well as a few (not many though) free german HD channels being available...
