Probably SATA connections - thin slot power & data connections. Much less bulky than the traditional molex 4 pin power & multi pin hdd connections
The power connection is the wider one, and they are keyed so they cant be connected up the wrong way round

So the wider part slots into the HDD providing combined power/SATA connection and the narrower end to SATA on the board? But where is power taken from? I would expect a three way cable or I am wrong?

If the power supply doesnt have a suitable connection free on it there will probably be a suitable "wide slot" connector on the motherboard somewhere. So you would buy a sata power cable with the wide connectors on both ends.

Pop the top off the receiver and take a photo of the innards then we can advise better

Yes that makes sense now there is a black wide female slot so a wider sata/power combined cable from this slot to HDD would be adequate did not realise that data power cables existed. How do I post photo?

If you're replying to a post or creating a new thread then, below the text input box, there are three buttons one of which is "Upload a File". Clicking on this allows you to upload a file - this is not just for photos.

Only jpegs (or pngs or gifs if you're awkward!) are allowed for photos and there is a maximum file size of about one MB. You can also choose whether the photos are to be placed in-line or full width.

Both cables are required. The narrower one connects to the board and the wider to the power supply. In a modern pc or satellite receiver/recorder the power connector should be the correct type, but on an older pc you may need a converter from old style 4 pin type to SATA type

I have an interio photo of TM Nano if it will help to identify the cable needed20171212_102516.jpg 20171212_102529.jpg

The cable kit came with the receiver. See the one on the left side of the photo.
It's a standard 2.5" HDD not solid state.

Thank you again that is exactly the kind of cable I need, just don't know what it is called, are there any marking on it for a manufacturer etc.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
On ebay here you can see quite a few possibly suitable cables - but which one depends mainly on the power connector on your receiver motherboard.

I can see the SATA data connector in the middle of the motherboard, but I not sure which the power connector is - however, I think it is the white one in the corner of the board that is diagonally opposite to the mains inlet socket.

Thank you this will not fit I am afraid.
I wasn't suggesting to use this adapter cable to connect directly to your HDD.
Does the cable that you ordered has the small Molex connector that goes into the board?
If not, then how are you going to supply power to the HDD?
Perhaps you can tell us exactly what you ordered so that we don't speculate.

Yes it does have a small two-pin molex adapter for power (5V and ground, I believe is what is needed), also a SATA adapter and a multi-pin adapter for the HDD, will post a picture.
