Hi,
I have a few Jaeger 1224 motors in need of a clean up so I thought I would try electolytic rust removal from the metal plates rather than the usual method of rust removal with wire brushes etc.
There are a few pics attached below showing the setup. Basically, I have used an old T bracket as an anode, the Jaeger 1224 metal plates as the cathode and a PSU to provide current to the electolytic tank. A normal car battery charger can be used as a power source instead of a PSU. The electolyte is simply a half cup of ionic compound in 5 gallons of water.
Its fizzing away nicely at the moment, I will leave it a few days to fester then fish the metalwork out of the tank and hope for the best.
Rgds
